sorry guys for flooding the threads with my ever ongoing search for a compatible rubber for my RPB.. ive been using F3S for about a year now and its starting to show weakness in the game.

while the F3S is good for a sneaky Push which catches many players my level off guard and some of the players above my level.
its also ok blocking /punch blocking slow loops but i find it bottoms out too easily when anything fast like a drive comes at me.

creating your own spin( especially when attacking a back spin ball/push) i find difficult and very demanding as the isnt much grip on the rubber.

the list is sort of narrowed down for the next successor: NB speed not a big factor i would liek to be able to use a power stroke as some stage and rely on my own strength

so we have : Dawei inspirit UL
Dawei 2008(Super power)
LKT pro XP
Sriver ( L, el, or Fx)
Stiga Calibra of some sort or some other Stiga rubber

I have found the Donic X2 Platin Soft a good RPB rubber. I will give a in-depth review on it on the Penhold section in due time.

I would advise you to stop thinking about equipment. You need a decent period of solid training to at least get your ball-control/consistency up to scratch (lots of footwork drills wouldn't hurt either :) ). Changing rubber will make absolutely no difference to you at this stage. :)

Changing rubbers Will make a difference, slowing down your progress. Muscle memory is key to consistancy. If you use ONE setup for a year, you would be surprized how the consistancy goes up. The bat becomes part of you.

I will not even coach students that change setups without talking to me first. (I coach for free) If I was charging money, that would be different. That would make money for a longer time for me. :)

I really don't mean to be rude but whether you use F3S or F99Z or whatever it ain't gunna make any difference whatsoever until you decide to start doing some serious training. At present you are at the beginner-intermediate stage and you have barely any ball control. Talk of speed glue or rubber 'biting' is just not relevant to you now. You need to practice diligently enough so that you can just pick up a ball and, at will, hit 50-100 counter-hits and 20-30 loops accurately and without a mistake. This sort of consistency training is what every decent player must do early in their career in order to get a solid foundation - and there are no shortcuts available for this. You also need to have solid footwork, good recovery and good balance so that you are able to execute your shots consistently and effectively in a match. This can be achieved by doing lots of footwork and side-to-side drills. You also need to work hard on your technique so that you can get 'bite' on the ball no matter what rubber you use - whether it be D13, SP, Sriver, H3 or whatever.

TT is a wonderful sport but it requires effort and determination to improve - you can't buy improvement in a packet or in a tube. If you put in the required effort you will be amply rewarded.

I used to play penhold style but i stopped playing for some 9 years and now im trying to comeback, i would like to try RPB and i wonder what kind of rubber is best for the technique, a hard sponge tacky Chinese rubber or a softer sponge less tacky Euro or Japanese style rubber, i dont have trainers where i live and no robots either so ill be doing multiballs exercises with friends and watching videos for technique tips.

Im more used to Chinese rubbers on my FH like DHS G888, though i have tried hard Japanese and Euro rubbers too, not as much though.

Thanks for any tip on this.

Euro / Japanese non-tacky rubbers are easier for RPB. Sriver EL or 729 Focus III snipe are good rubbers to try.
