Well, a few days ago I said I would get to carving my J-Pen. I’m not sure many people care or even know I said that, but seeing as how I already said i’d do it, I thought I might as well keep my word :|

These are some of the pictures of my first attempt at carving my bat. Didn’t have sand paper handy so that part still has to be completed, but the rough shape is there. Didn’t bother with the thumb since there’s no discomfort there.

That's quite a deep carving! Hope it does not change your grip too much once you've sanded it down and start using it.

I've seen some J-Pen blades get cut more than that and it is OK witht the users.

Whenever someone cuts too much, you think it would be too late past point of no return, but one way to overcome that is to super-glue a piece of cork over the affected area and cut/sand it down until it is "Right".

Doing this to your new J-Pen blade is an art form and a ritual here, even if the number of J-Penners each year is decreasing as many switch to shakehand. (for the BH kill posibilities)

J-PenMex, I see you use Inspirit, ourclub owner uses a J-Pen with an very old sheet of Inspirit, perhaps the only Korean J-Penner I have seen here using a Chinese rubber. Xiom Omega II and Tenergy dominate the J-Pen players' arsenal...

Yeah, somewhere along the road I will try a Xiom rubber . But I’ve heard it’s (Xiom Omega II) a speed demon, and I’m not sure I’m ready for such a beast just yet. It’s tempting for sure to simply go with the fastest rubber out there, but I know as of this moment, I’d be compromising technique in order to “work” with the rubber. For sure I’ll be trying that one out in the near future though. I started out with a Yinhe rubber and that thing was as tacky as they get. So I decided to try a less tacky rubber (IQUL) to transition into and even lesser tacky rubber (I’ve heard the Xiom is even less tacky). As for now I’m trying to hone my technique with my IQUL :D Plus not to mention, it’s a lot cheaper and at this point the Xiom will be “wasted” money as I will not be using it to it’s full potential.
