Gao Jun is my favourite penhold blocker.

She used Matsushita Pro and a Btf short pips...challenger????

here's her link:

Hurricane 3 has excellent control and spin, though it is only crazy powerful if you are.
If more power within the rubber itself is an issue, perhaps H3 Neo would work.

If tacky rubbers aren't your preference then I +1 on the Sriver recommendation.

Need some advice.

I've just started playing table tennis again recently after an absence of 14 years.

I'm now using Yasaka Yagyu Gold W86 blade with Yasaka Xtend SD rubber. However, this pairing of blade & rubber seem too powerful/strong for me. I've noticed my block or soft push back will frequently send the ball flying far out from the table.

I intend to change for a softer rubber whereby I will have a better control but not forsaking the speed of the current rubber. I'm at loss what type or brand of rubber should I go for. Kindly give some recommendation.

Thank you.

9000 is the slowest rubber Yinhe sells, I really like it on my backhand. It's only $7 including shipping, you can in fact get it for $5 a sheet if you buy 4 sheets off ebay from China-Friend (same people as Eacheng). Worth a try, for something on the slower side of the range.

I'm a JPenholder Iskandar . Only use 1 rubber only. I like the Extend SD fast speed but unable to control my block or return shot.

I intend to switch to CPenhold or at least try it out sometimes later this year.Thank you

I know. But you said you wanted something with high control, I suggest this. It's supposedly slow, but I can hit pretty hard with it nonetheless. I like it on my backhand but it should work fine on a jpen forehand. Besides, it's just $7, worth a try. Very nice for the short game and for blocks, but you should be able to hit pretty hard with it.

Hi Iskandar,

Here is my report on the Yinhe 9000E after playing with it for almost 3 weeks
The new rubber has an awful smell but it disappeared fairly quickly. It is also tacky but just like the smell it loses its tackiness after a few sessions of play.

Yinhe 9000E seems to be heavier as compare to Yasaka Extend. The speed is also slower and the spin generated is lesser. Thus need more power when come to looping or smashing. However, it allows for better control play.

Initially I’ve some reservation using this low priced rubber but after a few weeks of play, this rubber seems to fit me well. It actually helps to solve my block & soft push problems. Thank you very much Iskandar for the recommendation.

However, I’ll be switching to CPen very soon. The main reason is to learn RPB. I’ve just bought Nittaku Ludeack Power blade (90gm). I’ve tried my friend’s blade (same type of blade) with the Chinese rubber on both sides that weights 184gm. I'm unsure whether this is the norm but it seems too heavy for me. My preference is for a lighter set-up that allows FH for attack (loop & smash) and BH for RPB. Perhaps you or other guru here can assist to give some suggestion.

Thank you
