I agree. but I am old enough to know in this day and age that one grip doesn't have any real advantages over another. It just takes a good athlete. However, I will miss the innovation that spurs from having such a star in the pengrip game. for instance the banana flick I feel started with wang hao and now shake hands have developed one. there is an aggressive blocking technique that shake handers are now using that I don't see that Xu Xin is using. but the backhand sidespin block ma lin employed is devastating and no one else does that. I'm trying to make my own techiques from the latests Ma Long and Fan Zhendong strokes instead of stealing them from Wang Hao

Same here! It's a little sad that it won't be so many top players playing with pend hold left.

Miss His style. :)

My impression about His play style is, watching His videos against defenders,

A slugger, like in boxing, play in crouching stance, walking rather than hopping around, keep His han... blade up to block few straight ball, occasional bh loop, and using forehand loop,

BOOM! BAM! DHUAR! JEGHER! ZIG! All night long. :)

Just to throw another opinion out. Petr Korbel, of the Czech Republic, 11 years older than Wang Hao, was doing the banana flick as an important part of his return of serve technique back in the 1990's.

IMO all grips and "techniques" were invented and reinvented many decades ago. When someone finds a technique useful for the current game and gets the technique working at a high level it looks like they invented it, but they didn't. The human body being constructed the way it is there aren't really any new ways of moving it. Nothing new under the sun. Just my opinion.

Guys, if you miss Wang Hao with his amazing RPB as I do then you definitely should check Wong Chun Ting from Hong Kong (in case you didn't know about him already). He has a very good RPB:
