seems he pulls it out of the right pocket. I've had problems hitting this off backspin serve that is short and low.
any suggestions. Elbow position? body position?

I watched about 30 seconds of the video. The match video is a full on opening loop not a flick.

Anyway, the trick to flicking backspin in this manner is to go up the side where the spin doesn't affect the bat so much, not up the back. Hook it around.
