New blade from Nittaku. Has the hybrid Cpen with Jpen-style cork stub. Now no more need to custom-make your own.

The specs from the Nittaku website below. 150x157 blade face, sounds like a normal compact shakehand size. Might be a little big for cpen but I have a Dremel so not a problem. :)

* The size:
Full length 237 x width 150 (mm)
* Grip
Length 80 x -thickness- 15 (mm)
* 3 plywood
* Board (thick) :5.5mm
* Weight: 85 grams (+-)
* Speed :10.0
Control :7.0
* G-carbon 2

Cpen blade faces are generally bigger... -> 160x150 (stiga), 166x152 (avalox), etc.

Yes it seems cpens aren't really smaller. My violin r-h is very compact by comparison 157x140

just letting u know that this blade's handle is even thinner than violin/acoustic. Think Iolite from butterfly, and just a tad smaller.

Are you talking about the shakehand or the Cpen/Jpen hybrid version? Does it matter so much how thin the handle is on a Cpen or Jpen, since you will not be grasping the handle anyway?

Btw, the Violin Jpen hybrid (or any Jpen) has a narrower handle than any Cpen, and should be narrower than the either the Rutis C or the Rutis J hybrid.

Yes, I prefer the narrower handle on Chinese penhold blades as I have small hands. Maybe it's marketed toward women and Asian players, who have smaller hands On Japanese penhold blades, you tend to keep your fingers closer together and the front, so a narrower handle makes sense.

You've got a Jpen, so it doesn't count anyway :P

The handle dimensions according to the specs:

Flared: 102mmx24mm
Straight: 100x22.5
Cpen: 80x21
Cpen hybrid (with cork block): 80x15

So the flared is quite normal size. The Straight is thinner (but Iolite is IIRC just 21mm thick). Cpen hybrid is the thinnest at 15mm. The numbers don't give an idea how narrow the handle is though.

Dalamchops,
Have you used it? Can you give any playing impressions?

Btw, here's another picture from iruiru:

the blade's got a REALLLY nice surface, smooth and no way of splintering at all. The 2 carbon layers make it hard and fast, so the offensive rating is correctly labeled. The small handle (cpen) is not too comfortable, though it gives a tremendous amount of wrist movements when you wanna do different serves and vary spins. I haven't played enough with it to write more than this lol. I'll try to post some pictures showing the handle compared to other cpens later.
