Around 8:00 in the video, it says "press the index finger for the FH stroke". Well, not always. Some players press with the index finger, but some other players press with the thumb for FH.
-Zhuang Zedong (index finger).
-Guo Yuehua, Cao Yanhua (thumb).
All were world champions (multiple times).

What I noticed was that wider the C-pen grip, the more Traditional Penhold BH is possible. Ma Lin and XX both have a much more relaxed thumb/index finger and a more spread-out fingers on the back. Compare that to the tighter grip of Wang Hao which allows him the ability to "snap" around his wrist much more. Unfortunately, this wristy action requires forearms of steel. If you dont have the strength and support muscle groups trained, injuries will put you out of play.

Wang Hao plays all-out RPB ( reverse penhold backhand ) which EmRatThich coach shows the grip in his video :-)
