Hi there,

Do you find that the handle too small for a good firm grip?

For your comments.

Thanks

too many gaps there for me. I bring my hand down the blade more so it sits close to my hand and the handle is long. I have more control and the blade is lighter when I flick my wrist. doesn't look like you sanded your blade yet either. btw nice stiga. what rubber you using?

Hi Doc,

Thanks for the comments.

It is not a stiga blade, but Sword (china made), not sanded yet .

FH using H3 Neo, BH just changed to Xiom Vega Pro.

looks fine to me. do whatever is comfortable.

i tended towards narrow handled blades and held further back like yours because it was easier to rotate the blade angle in the hand for rpb

eventually went to cut down FL blades because the handle was even thinner

probably keep in mind i was full time rpb. no tpb at all.

If I'm not wrong for RPB the wrist do the turn .
Grip should be firm.

if your wrist only does the turn you'll never be able to rpb block

I'm have no learned with RPB block yet.
Mostly use FB to block and ball mostly over the table; angle problem i think, blade not closed enough?

Blade: DHS PowerG-9 OFF++
FH: Yasaka Rakza X
BH: Palio Thor
I've always found that despite whether you grip tightly around the neck or looser up the handle, it is VERY important to support the thumb index with the other 3 fingers on the BH side. All fingers curled, one finger on the rubber, 2 or 3 some kind of support is needed on the BH side to match the position of the thumb and index finger !

Can anyone confirm on that ?

What? Please,

Don't make non reverse able decision before the root of problem have been found.

And, BTW, it highly possible that if too loose grip happen because the grip too small, sanding it to make it smaller would aggravate the result. :o

Your not sanding it to make it smaller silly. Just to round off the sharp edge so it doesn't dig into you skin. Look at the blades of ma Lin wh and xx. But you'll be able to grip tighter and not dig into your fingers. Took me years to Learn. And I hate to say ruined a few bats trying. Maybe you could find a cheap blade to experiment. I do 5-10 strokes of the sand paper. Hit a bit. Do a few more sanding. Hit a bit. Play a few weeks. Sand a bit again. I did that in the beginning. Not I just go to town on a 500 dollar set up. Make minor modifications later. But I've already about 20 blades.

Ah, in short, making it Dotec shaped.

I prefer taping it 1st though. It is reversible, non damaging to the blade, increase grip, and offer better bump protection to handle. ;)

It does alter the blade mass distribution and feel though. :D

It should work. Never seen it done before. You could develop a "long finger" grip like ma Lin. Or maybe a grip that covers almost the whole grip what I call a modern penhold grip like xx. It seems you have long fingers and can do that. I can't. I've short stubby fingers.

i heard once that kim taek soo said that you grip should be just enough that your racket won't fly from your hand
edit: apparently what i read was mistranslated, what KTS said is that the arm should be relaxed and that your fingers should be firm
