I found this rather new video that might help with penhold forehand technique but it is in Chinese, anyone in this forum can give the main idea in this video?

Thanks in advance. :)

It's about looping when the ball is going down. Basically she's saying:

* You still need to contact the ball in front of you, not when it's on your side. Move to the right position first. (Easier said than done  )

* Need to use power of your legs/body to lift the ball, but don't just brush it or hit upward. Both hit forward and brush at same time using incoming speed of the ball.

* Contact the ball near racket head for max power. (I found this true, although have heard conflicting advice of contact at center of racket)

Also, as someone mentioned in the comments, the video shows looping when the ball is slightly below the peak, not really "going down" as amateurs may encounter.

This one is about drives against topspin with SP like Liu Guoliang, so I didn't look as closely. For the most part he's describing the motion so you can just watch. And 3 things to note according to him:

* Hit when the ball is in early stage of going up. If wait till it's at highest point, the spin is too strong.

* Mainly flat hit with a bit of friction

* Transfer body weight from right to left, not upward
