Hello,

On this picture, we can see that Wang Hao uses a piece of nonslip material on his backhand rubber, to put his fingers on.
Does someone know what is this material, and where I could find it on Internet ?
Thanks !

It's not a piece of used rubber, is it?

I don't think so, I suppose it is a nonslip surface, not just rubber.
Rubber + sweat = bad control

Some used a piece of sticker with cork-like material. My friend uses a piece of cut short-pips rubber.

Thanks for the picture !
That's interesting, it looks like rubber brushed with sandpaper ...

I hope this doesn't break the new 2.4.3.1 rule about topsheet treatment  :pirat:

LOL, yes if the ITTF sees that, they'll make another rule banning this procedure

What I want to know is what is the white material that Yoshida Kali has on his penhold backhand. I know he's single-sided but just curious.

I'm not a penholder so bear with me - isn't wang hao's inverted rubber already nonslip without roughening it? If anything it would seem he'd want it to be a bit more slippery.

What I find as a penholder is this. When starting play and no sweat, the rubber is indeed grippy so won't slip. But it would start to get slippery when fingers start to get sweaty. I think maybe that is why he roughen up the rubber to solve that problem.

Cheers.

For RPB based styles, you don't want the blade to slip.

Eh? You have a photo? I thought regulations were black and red sides?
