You can RPB with pretty much anything.

I've said this before elsewhere, but I really don't think that jpen RPBing is anywhere near as effective as cpen rpbing.

Ditto, I even did it with a shakehand racket...

overall, they're all the same, it just depends on wat u like. it all a matter of opinion.

maby wang hao playes with this blade, but to someone else, it may have too much vibration, or its too heavy. maby someone likes the WRB in they're penhold blade, but someone else might think that WRB might make the blade head, heavy, or give it a hollow feel that some ppl dont like.

there really is no "suitable" rpb blade, just depends on wat ur looking for. i mean i can rpb with a shake hand blade just fine, just like yuzuki. :D

I use a cut down shakehand blade 95% of the time.

The other 5% I use a actual penhold blade.

How did this become an "official" thread? Was there some sort of blessing from a mod or something? :)

I'm switching back to shakehand, so bye RPB, I'll miss you. :(

Penhold is really great for forehand and RPB attacks. But dang! I just can't block with penhold! And when I switch to shakehand, blocking is still instinctive to me, even after playing penhold for almost a year.

I have always played JPen and have been trying to do rpb which is rather erratic for a few months now. Last Saturday, I decided to play totally with my SH and found that I really enjoyed it. Seriously, I feel that I played more relaxedly with the SH  So I am now sort of leaning towards changing totally to SH too

Cheers.

fattchoi, the reason is simple...
basically SH is the same as cpen except the handle.

i think your setups are all single ply thick jpens, I feel that they are not very suitable for RPB... the weight balance is not there.
for RPB, it is a must for the fh and bh rubbers to be cut to different length,
fh cut to leave some space for fingers and bh cut all the way to the blade handle.

Holding a SH like a cpen would DEFINITELY feel better than a single ply converted blade for RPB! Because of the weight balance thingy again. But definitely SH blade is NOT the best option for doing RPB.
Likewise, a double sided jpen should not be used as shakehand grip style.

So far I have tried all kinds of blade for RPB and found that only certain types of cpen and jpen are suitable for RPB.

cpen(1 and 2 rubbers), shakehand, thick 1 ply hinoki, jpen reversible

emm... are there many kinds of blade?

of all, thin cpen is most suitable, 2nd choice would be modified jpen reversibles. All pros that RPB seem to use thin cpen which is under 6mm.

Weight balance is the key to RPB.
TT_Freak from mytabletennis is the master of weight balance! and theory is from golf and tennis... hahahahha... very interesting!
