Hmm, for some strange reason, most of the OFF c-penholders I've seen locally used either Ma Lin Carbon, or Extra Offensive.

Speedplay, if I were to advise you, I'd probably say to choose something safe (like that first bat recommendations thread) as you could probably resell the blade if needed to.

I just built a bat for a student. Got a YinHe M-6. That is a nice blade for $25. Pretty fast blade.

If I were you (which I'm not, and won't be even 10 years later) and wanted an RPB blade that could fit shakehand rubbers on it, I would ignore everyone's advice that was above my post, except for Ranger-man and hookshot. All 4 of my galaxy cpen blades had smaller heads[1]. Everything else has larger heads[2].

I'd also look towards Andro - those would fit your current rubbers too.

Now if you were the bored sort and happened to have a hacksaw (or panel saw, but those don't tend to be as neat; bigger teeth, you see...), you could grab one of your shakehand blades[3] and attack it[4].

Now you could obviously also do the same thing, but buy a blade on purpose and do it. I've done it and I think I've made a lot of people cry when they saw my results[5].

But if you're not that way inclined and want a good cpen on a budget, I'd get a Galaxy 961. They're cheap, soft feel and excellent (for the price)[6]. The speed is reasonable (it's an allround blade, so don't get excited). Just add faster rubbers and you'll be fine.

Personally I'm not a fan of the highly flexible blades like the OC and the YE. But that's just me.

Finally, when you look for a rpb handle you're wanting something that's reasonably thin and flat. Stiga cpens are ok. Perhaps a bit wide, unless you have huge hands, which I bet you have. Donic is in a similar boat, as is DHS yet these are usually a bit thinner compared to stiga. Yasaka handles are ideal, but I don't really like the oversized heads. Galaxy stuff is more conical shaped and usually flatter/thinner at the top. I haven't tried any friendship blades.

I started off with galaxy blades with rpb coz they have resonably good speed and control...

Go for yasaka (yeo/mlc) or other big brands once you've gotten much better with your rpb!

Or you could take that same amount of money and spend it on an hour of coaching and work on improving your existing shake hand footwork.

K-2 is very good for beginner penholders who need some speed but also a good amount of control.

It's good for a variety of rubbers...

The bomb c-pen plays nothing like a balsa blade, it has hard outer layers and the further you go the centre ply (cork) the softer the woods gets... it's around OFF-.

I don't know if any of you have actually tried it, but I've had very good feedback from some c-pen players on this blade... I tried it in FL, and loved the feel, but it's a little too fast for me (OFF) as i prefer OFF-, and the handle is too thin for my liking in FL. Since speedplay is used to blades much faster than this, i didn't think it was a bad choice at all...

Sure we sell this and don't sell the others mentioned, but I would say the same if we didn't...honest truth ... would not make the slightest bit of difference if he bought it from us or elsewhere to me. I just think it's a good blade and good value... some of the others mentioned probably are too, but i would not dismiss the bomb unless you'd tried it...
