Lamberto Carlesso is a great player, nearly 60 years old, who plays antispin on both wings and rarely loses.

I think he's using old Toni Hold on both sides. I always wanted to see someone play double anti setup at a good level. Very uncommon, especially with the Toni Hold stuff.

I think he needs to twiddle more, I don't think I saw him do it once
I might even stick with anti in my set up, anyone want to buy any lp's :o

On a serious note that's quite an unusual set up and an interesting find. it's good to see him use it and hit with it too.

Toni hold only has the new 40 anti spin now (I believe). I think the old toni hold is more like the Joola toni hold original than this, except a lot slower. If he got some that came out when the toni hold first had the ITTF stamp on it (pre-joola), that's a slow batch.

Yes it's got to be the original hard Toni Hold rubbers similar to the Joola model. I have two of the Joola Toni Hold rubbers glued to one of my White Spots for my "fun" blade when I play with my son. It's great at the table, but I can't move anywhere near well enough to pull off this style for real. These vids do give me some ideas however.

:headbang: Hi to everyone, I must tell I'm new in this forum and this is my first post in it. I had to play Lamberto Carlesso this year, we belong to the 3rd national spanish division and we play in the group of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. I know Lamberto very well since some years and he uses an old butterfly defensive blade with Butterfly Super Anti on both sides, on his forehand he uses super-anti 2.0 mm. and on his backhand he uses the same rubber but in 1.5 mm., that's why he always returns balls with his backhand and then he turns to attack with his forehand.

Greetings to all from Tenerife, one of the best isles in the world!

Hi Ceix, welcome to the forum. Thank you, that answers some questions about Lamberto's equipment. Do you know exactly which Butterfly blade he uses?

:headbang: Sorry to answer I cannot tell you exactly which blade he uses, though I have had it in my hands I could not tell because it is a very old blade that I have never seen before!. I guess it is a blade from the 70s (at least) and it may not be Butterfly!

I forgot to tell my own set:
Blade: Butterfly, Matsushita Pro-model.
Forehand: Tibhar Nimbus Soft, 2.2m black.
Backhand: Tsp Curl p-1 r, red ox. (the best long pimple rubber for chopping).

Chances are it's not made anymore, and even if it is, it may be nothing like the blade they made in those days!
