This looks like another LP legend in the making. Age 15, rated 2250, but will go up as the guy she beat in the semis is rated 2435 (the #52 ranked US male player)! In the final she lost to the #40 US male player who is rated 2488.

This is a very high level LP blocking game. Anyone know what equipment she uses?

Wow! Me like!

I love how she attacks at the table with her BH LP, varying nicely between deadish topspin and sidespin, never backing off an inch. And that lightning fast FH MP cross-court smash.. yow! Her MP backspin serve sure was giving her opponents fits. Did someone say short rallies?!

Someone ought to put some Deng Yaping videos into this promising girl's hands..

Thanks for the info. Do you know what blade and forehand rubber she uses?

Very interesting to watch, thanks! I think she's got a very leathal weapon in her FH counters and attacks, but she misses too much when trying to BH chop block those fast and spinny loops (she only managed to block like 1 of 10). I think she would be better of using "normal" blocking technique, at least when facing such strong loopers, or trying something slower. Is she playing without sponge on bh? No idea of what blade she is using?

Nice videos! I though this thread was about a TT song

She pushed real aggressive with the pips... I wonder if it's OX?

maybe im just REALLY REALLY seeing things....but first video 0:50 - 0:59.....looks like a butterfly defence blade....and the balde isnt super large, so maybe a defence II not the alpha. if it is though it must be an older version because the silver butterfly logo is not on the bottom...

Did anyone else notice the after the 5th game in her semi match. The guy she was playing had words with a guy in the stands? He moved a barrier away and some others started to move toward them right when the video stopped. Maybe a fight? Wonder what was said? Would love to know more. Anyone?

Oh my gosh, this is so weird, but I actually met this girl last week at the club I attend, Maryland Table Tennis Center. I go there just about every Friday to play in this night league. She is usually either there playing or getting ready to leave just as the league is about to start. If she's there again this upcoming Friday I can simply go up to her ask about what equipment she's using and then post it here.

Looked like the Chinese guy was trying to coach Song from the bench in the middle of point and the black guy noticed it and called him out on it. After calling him out, it sounded like the Chinese guy just told him to "Play" and so he did just that. At the end of game 5, it looked like the black guy just straight up confronted him, at which point, the Chinese guy proceeded to run away to the top bleacher which is evidenced in the video from game 6.

Great! It would be interesting to know. She's a terrific player.

Unfortunately, I didn't see Pamela at the club yesterday. I'll stay watchful for her and if I ever see her I'll make sure to report back whatever info I get to this thread. Be on the look out~~~

very similar aggressive backhand pushing technique as myself.. However, the blocking technique is not quite as good as her aggressive block..Her forehand is extremely good.. If she can get her blocking to her playing level of pushing and service return, she'll be deadly..

Watched the videos against Adam again and I got a few observations.. When she was able to keep him on the backhand with her aggressive pushes, she made the point most of the time.. If she attacked with the forehand, the point went to Adam most of the time as he counter-looped it for a winner. When she tried to chop-block, she mssed most of the time. Almost every time when she went to Adam's forehand, she lost the point. His forehand is way too strong.. Her forehand attacks didn't bother him. She made very few points with her forehand. I think that if she would've stayed with her backhand pushing game into his backhand, she would've done better than she did. I do think that she has the potential to beat him with the right strategy.. His forehand is just too strong to give him any balls into the forehand. He was not too comfortable with her deep and fast pushes into his backhand.. He did the right thing and played it safe, waiting for the chance to score with his forehand.. Adam played a very smart strategy but that's what you'd expect from a player at his level.. Pamela on the other side played well but I don't think that she had the right strategy.. What worked well in the semi-final didn't work at all in the Final as Adam was able to counter-attack her forehand shots. She should've realized that and only attacked when she had the chance for a direct point..
