Totally - but I would argue that your statement of "hitting through backspin" isn't really accurate, it's more that he reads the spin really well.

Thanks! I've been waiting for recent matches with Wang.
Great match! What a powerful player. Wang had real troubles with those serves also. Too bad he couldn't get more chances to attack, that would have helped I think.

He uses spin manipulation and chops mostly with no spin and sometimes withe some back spin. But it also makes it difficult to keep chops lo. But that does not always make it easier for the opponent, it can be even more difficult to read the spin on a high chop. What he must not do is to chop short, then he gets blasted away. He uses a rather grippy SP, not like Spectol. Some says Globe 889-2, some says Spinpips Chop 2. They are both very grippy on the side of the pips, making it easy to push with lots of back spin.

In his game against Ruwen in the Qatar Open, he proved to be a real prick. He definitely has an attitude problem -- these are not isolated incidents.

His pushes look like medium pips -- they're really dead and kind of pop up. I really, really doubt he's using .05 sponge. I'm not aware of any pro SP defenders that use less than 1.5. In my experience, less than this and you get lots of problems with bottoming out on fast loops, and that's the last thing you need to worry about. Defending with SP is hard enough as it is.

but u can still manipulate spin with LP
and to make a lot of backspin on push, twiddle and do it with inverted..

What did he do?

If you see a Chinese defender, you can bet a lot of money on it he uses SP. It's a traditional thing. I think Chinese also believe LP make defense too passive and predictable.

I disagree totally with you on this point. It's not because the ball broke during the point that it must be replayed. The referee was completely confused on this, but this is not Wang fault.
