Some of video are deleted but you'll get the concept that without seeing/feeling the spin, it's hard to estimate. What do you think?

http://oneofakindtrading.com.au/forum/v ... sc&start=0

This were recorded feb 07, 2 months after I turned to LP.
Note: this's the very early topic that I posted and I learned so MUCH about it from member here. Especailly, how to handle Superblock.

This's the "first" ever LP. Playing a 06 NA team in Baltimore, my shoulder got hurt on the first day(5-5), playing too many matches, and lost the first match of the 2nd day, my record was 5-6 at that time then used Destroyer OX that bought from 2 days before the tourney(still didn't know why I bought it). Stick it to the blade, cut it and go!!!!! No practice. I went 12-1 after that!!!! Never go inverted since then.

I agree, it is hard to judge someone's level from a video. If you haven't seen yourself on video, then it's even harder because you'd probably be surprised at how you look when you play...

That being said, I think you're a good player, and I enjoy all the videos you post. Not everyone has the guts to put themselves out there. I know some have expressed doubt as to the levels of your opponents...don't let that get to you. Just keep playing and keep on posting your vids; some style combinations can make players seem to be at a lower level then they really are (maybe that greg vs paul video for example), I think it's much easier to just take your word for it and enjoy. 8)

Before watching myself play the first time, I think I had a super smooth and nice stroke. But realily is that it's nowhere near what I think!!!!

"I know some have expressed doubt as to the levels of your opponents...don't let that get to you" - It's not about that. Actually, someone,I think it's Alfie asking me about 2 guys rating in vids posted by Rob Trudell.

Especially, when it's a D VS O. O players will looks 200-300 below the actual.

I laugh when watching myself in the "first LP ever" - I didn't even know how the right strategy, how to return serve, how to change spin and how to prevent the first attack....but got a W from pure chopping(pretty bad one)!!!! :P

you both look about 2000 on that vid but I have seen quite a few vids of 2000 players that will NOT attack and get into pushing rallys,I know I could beat them myself and I am 600 points lower

It depens on style. Actually, I'll more worried if I have to play 2000 that does not attack more than 2000 attackers. Why? I play 2000 attackers all the time. Plus the "Do not attack" type must have some VERY good stuff hidden in their sleeve!!!!!! Be careful!!! 8)

BTW. TZ won the biggest match of the year. Should I be the TZ's next opp to challenge him for his MC-1? Kidding.
It's funny, TZ is only 1750 so this guy must be below 1750.....but this dude had guts to challenge ppl to play for a blade!!!!

Now I'm waiting for Speedy VS Der_E.

players that get into constant pushing rallys at the table don't scare me at all,a good defender that can attack any loose balls is a different story

hey, even ole Wiggy from DTTW looked kinda out of his offensive element playing a chopper with perhaps an equal or superior level. You don't see the spin on 30 fps vid on the net. That is a bummer, but there are a few other things you can pick up from a vid that give you an idea. You can see footwork, even stop and replay it. You can kinda see racket angles. You can still see tactical decisions. You can see reluctancy or tendency to attack. You can see positioning. You can see how often the opponent correctly reads and returns serves and how his or her service game works. So, I feel vids are not a total indicator, especially of one game or opponent, but you can pick up quite a few things on strengths and weeknesses.

I have played BH live and trained/hit with him a few times. You definately do not see the spin variation on the vids. You surely do not see how much energy/power I put into a loop against bottom spin. You might catch it with 640 res and 60 fps, but that pretty much requires a 2 gig or higher SD card, which until now, has been a bit pricey. Point being, it can be hard to see the subtle things BH does in a point to win. You can still, from the opponents' actions, get a good idea of what is going on though.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsexjxigkAA - Super awesome!! The chopper guy actually return many easy (short and no/little-spin) balls but his ability to get them back is out of the world!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pg-L_ktKP7c - so difficult to see

Wiggy has got the hair

I saw a great match a couple of years ago on the BBC:

matthew syed VS timo boll

Timo was still 'up and coming' back then, and he beat syed 4-3. Syed said in an interview that he was really impressed by Timo, who broke down Matthew 'the wall' brick by brick...

It was some time ago, because after that, Syed commented on the appending rule change on the 'hidden serve'. Must have been five years or so...
