I found a way to get pictures with more resolution from weibo's cdn, but still no clue on what pips is he's using.

Opening an image into a new tab and then changing the middle part of the url to large.

ex:

https://wx3.sinaimg.cn/large/005CIGaily1fj1pvf5sghj33vc2kwqvb.jpg

some pictures of the pips:

Given the sponge color (visible from other pics), the straight-across edge of the portion of the rubber with pips, and his caginess about stating what pips he's using, it could be Tibhar Grass D.Tecs.

I still have no clue, but seeing his latest games the Chinese and Ma Te in particular have found a way to have spin back in the game. Some chops are even looped into the net.

I agree. He never twiddles to put backspin after pushes from his opponents.
Not sure when those pics were taken but in the last two recent videos, his LP doesn't seem to have a straight horizontal line of pips.... :?:

after seeing those pics i must say that for sure this isnt grass dtecs...
sponge looks like white, cream colour - a lot of pips have that colour
but rubber looks like its transparent, grass isnt transparent.

his pips on this pics looks like palio ck531a, ex:
Image

and some other chinese national player (sun jian fei) was using palio

I asked my coach to ask some coaches and see what he could find out.

He said his personal coach asked him and he said the long pips were

"POLO"

I have no idea if that is a China only pip. (Non ittf)

Maybe they confused it for Palio but I don't think they would make that mistake.

Could it be Pogo?

Straight line at bottom of sheet does not indicate Pogo. Pogo has a wide gap at the bottom of the sheet but not a straight line as shown by his pips.

I've searched the ITTF rubber coverings list and found nothing. However, 2 close matches: Pogo (ruled out) and Xiom Vega LPO (Lopo?). This rubber has a straight line. Too bad the sponge is black. Maybe he's using a different sponge. Or maybe "polo" is the Chinese translation of another rubber's name.

I believe this might be correct as if you google these pips the sponge is the same colour as Ma Te's too.

Not the xiom cause of the sponge and the dark red color of the rubber.

Polo means Chicken in spanish....

That's really impressive!

Even though it's hard to see his LP, I noticed that it has almost horizontal line at the base but it's not exactly a straight line, it's lower in the middle like that: ------____------
I compared it visually to Dawei 388, Palio ck531a and it's not one of them (nor Grass or any TSP). Probably some Chinese LP with a really thick sponge.. 1.5mm at least!
