What a great encounter coming up at the Korean Open 2013 in the Round of 64. Yuto Muramatsu (WR51) will face Kang DongSoo (WR121). These youngsters are the future of modern defense. Who do you think will win the match?

The match will be played (and maybe live broadcasted on ittf-itv) on Friday at 13.30

I wrote this in Kang's thread:

It is very difficult to guess the outcome of a match between two defenders. Muramatsu managed to win a close game agasint Choi Deok Hwa not long ago. Choi is much lower ranked than Kang (Choi will face Lebesson tomorrow). And Kang has better attacks and he plays in front of lots of Koreans. Normally I would say that the highest ranked one will win but I think Kang has a good chance. I hope he wins, I like his style a little more than Muramatsus (but only a little) :)

Another thing, Kang has a match earlier that day, in U21. Muramatsu has not been playing in the tournament at all yet. That also speaks a little for Kang.[/quote

And I wonder if you, who vote, is voting with your heart or your brain :) I think I used my heart, trying to find reasons why Kang will win, just because his style is a little more fresh 8) .

I think Yuto will win it: he has more experience at the elite level and he plays with short pips.

Should be interesting, if Yuto attacks from his pips more than he usually does I think he will win easily. Being able to attack so easily from the backhand is why short pip defenders are the future.

In any case it's an equipment match up you rarely see, short pip chopper vs long pip chopper at least in the male ranks.

Between defenders is usually the player with the more confident attack that come out on top. Based on that alone, I'm going with Muramatsu.

Watching Kang's latest game I've chosen him, but it entirely depends on Yuto's attitude. If he's in it to win it and he's landing his forehands I suspect he'll take it. He's the more attacking player, too.

WOW!!! I really hope someone recorded that match:
KANG Dongsoo- MURAMATSU Yuto JPN: 4-3 10-12,11-13,11-6,6-11,11-4,11-7,11-4

I wonder what happend in the fifth and sixth... Yuto must have gotten tired or something.
