Hi folks...here is a short clip showing a backhand shot I am practicing with Inferno on a TSP Balsaplus 8.5...press the blue full size tab to view full screen...It's probably best to let the video finish downloading so it plays without stopping etc.
I am becoming increasingly confident in the shot in the video...however punch blocks, chop blocks, knuckleball blocks, topspins of their chops and chops of their topspins are also on the menu to mix things up a bit...

It's amazing how less freely the shots flow from the bat when the camera is turned on...lol  consequently some editing was done...ha!!!

One thing I have found is that the practice partners can get very used to that shot, so it has to be mixed in with my very tacky FH LKT Pro XT rubber, and some knuckle balls, and reverse spins etc....They have become amazingly astute in watching what I do with my bat and they watch for a flipped rubber...but I hold my own against them and do well when we play French (or whatever you call it when 3 play) doubles, that we play to maintain concentration, and in the first game tonight they only got 3 points... HOWEVER, things have a way of bringing one back to earth, don't they lol...when I lost 13/11 in the next round...we play turn about...(the rest were better...lol  )

I am doing a Zoomed Slo-Mo...and I will probably load that tomorrow.
Here it is...

Very nice! Your practice partners really had a lot of trouble with that shot. Almost looks like a heavy sidespin chop motion that you're putting on it. When you smash with the pips, it looks like the technique that Dr. Neubauer demonstrates on his video.

Hi dwruck, I originally copied that shot from his video..I am also practicing chopping topspin and top-spinning chops as shown in the video

I have not asked them what happens to the ball with that shot, but I know for sure that I would hate to return it...lol

You've done a really good job of perfecting the technique from the video. That's great!

It looks like it has really nasty back/side spin on it. They dump so many into the net, or even short of the net, or if they try to lift it more, it either goes off the end or is a weak high ball. Looks tough!

Yes dwruck, one of the guys is a mid A grader who is an older style player, and is using red Bryce and Black 755.... the other fellow is mid B grade (for up here on the Sunshine Coast) using Mark V and Bryce...anyway, the reason for saying that is that because of the frictionless Inferno, they are probably getting back a mixture of their own spin and low spin balls...I just use that particular stroke to get a bit of speed on the ball to mix things up a bit...

They are probably getting a lot more out of this than they think as well... you're teaching them to watch your bat and the ball more closely... one of the most important aspects in TT

Fosssil, you are using this Inferno beautifully and very effective.

This is the side wipe motion you have been talking about, right? The under spin generated is really heavy and your stroke looked effortless. I kind of having a similar stroke, but I used a twisted punch stroke instead when the ball is above the net.

Thanks for sharing, I definitely will add this stroke action to my game.

With this stroke action, you should be able to produce similar motion with a different pip rubber even after the ban and have the same effect.

Hi Tat,

That stroke works well with just about any pips...and I can't see why it would not work with Long A.

I have used it with 755, Superblock, Boomerang, Cloud & Fog 3 OX, and a couple of others, all OX, but not necessarily so, and it would probably work with any friction or frictionless rubber, with differing amounts of reversal being applied due to the differing characteristics of each rubber...

As I have mentioned elsewhere, C&F 3 does some interesting things with that shot...

Once you get the upward sideways slap shot working, it is possible to do a level and a downward sideways slap shot with a more open bat face to suit the occasion...

OK, Fosss, now please download and watch the videos I posted earlier and advise me what to do against Bill.

BTW, I switched to Google video because these few days, there were error messages on all veoh videos, don't know why.

Same problem with google, I typed in the same information (except of course the reference numbers) but only the first video work and the other two had error messages, just wondering.

You seem to know these things, please help!

Tat

Hi Tat,

If you want to do what I do for short videos less than 5 minutes long(ie have the picture there to click on) you could use Photobucket.com and when loaded click on their image link and you get a picture like mine to click on...its prettywell straight forward...I use Photobucket because they dont check the videos and they are available almost straight away....as soon as they are published, and that is only a few minutes...there is no download button, but Photobucket videos are able to be easily downloaded using the Orbit downloader.

HOWEVER you have loaded to REVVER ( takes much longer videos) before so why don't you continue using that...well as soon as they have checked the video, they send you an email to your specified email addy...and in that email is the correct link to the video that you can copy and paste to posts...

I'm just not too keen on Youtube or Google (even though Google owns Veoh I believe) so I use Photobucket, because my videos are shorter than 5 minutes.

I will have a look at the "Bill Video" but folks here have offered some good tactical advice so far...I don't think I can do any better.

Well, I used Google video because they can take more than 100 MB and all the three videos have more than 100 MB, and veoh is not working.

BTW, for some reason, Google have not sent me the links. I got those by playing the vids and copying down the links. I know there are ways not to copy down, but I am not that good in that. Hey, compare to a few months ago before I join this forum, I am miles ahead in the use of computer, thanks to you.

When I have vids that has less than 100 MB, then I'll use Photobucket or Revver.

Tat...
I will give Google a go if I get a large video, however if you process the videos with an editor/processor and output the file as an avi file they will be much smaller in size and quicker to upload you really do need to get that process down pat...lol

I have posted the correct links to your bill videos in your Bill video thread.
