He's playing in the German Oberliga and is only 15 years old. He got the silver medal at the Belgium Open (Juniors). Here's his QF at Belgium open from a nice angle. What do you think?

Look how much he has developed between 13 and 15 years old. Much better footwork, much more strength in all strokes. Impressive. And I likehis huge back swing, that is needed to get lots of spin with plastic ball.

Schlie won his R64 and R32 match, but lost in R16... Also, Artur Abusev lost in R16. The Russian Chaplygin lost in R32. Quite a few young modern defenders coming up though.

I would like to know about how his training. What drills for defensive play, how much practicing in total, and how much focus is on the defensive parts? How much multiball?

My questions:

- What made you choose for defensive table tennis?
- How does your environment (team mates, opponents, public) react to it?
- What's your equipment history? Did you try other blades or other pimples? And why did you choose the combination JSH-blade & FLII 1.1 (if that's correct)?
- What's your level in your age category in Germany? What league do you play?
- What's your ambition?
- Who are your table tennis idols?
