Great game! He did not use his anti very much and that helped him those times he really needed it. His BH has gotten a lot better. He still misses too many FH though. Also serving is a lot better. It loked like they had faced each other a few times before, Luka was pretty sure what to do against his FH serves from first point.

Here are a few seconds from another (more recent I think) match between those two opponents (start at 1:00:05):

http://youtu.be/iMEMCTe-J90?t=3605

And Luka's second match that evening:

http://youtu.be/hJpQmxgzN6M?t=1805

They have two parallell matches going on and seem to focus the streaming on the match Luka is not playing, so unfortunately only bits and pieces of his two matches :( .

Some of us already knew this, but does anyone know why and to what brand (is there anything else but Neubauer?)

From DMS Facebook:
Good bye Luka.
Luka Mladenovic leaves der-materialspezialist company and changes to a new sponsor.
Already at the team EM in Luxembourg, Luka will complete play with material of his new sponsor.
der-materialspezialist company wishes all the best to Luka and continued success in his still young career.

Well, it is only bad if it makes him worse. Otherwise I think it is good for the development of different rubbers and blades if players change brands now and then, that makes the competiton bigger. And that is good for us who uses the rubbers.

There was a post on this topic on noppentest.de. Somebody there stated that the new sponsor is a major brand who does not actually make antis and that Luka is currently playing with the Bison.

He lose twice with his new sponsor, maybe it's a little bit downgrade and changing equipment before big competition like European Championship isn't a good idea.....

Didn't seem like his anti came into play much against perrson. Or when it did, became a point lost on many instances. Not saying anything about the equipment but it appeared Luka used his anti less than usual.but perhaps the matches I see of his are used to highlight the anti.

He also faced an opponent ranked some 300 positions ahead of him, and a very experienced opponent as well...

But I agree he did not seek a game where he would get in position to block a top spin with his anti.

I wonder if that was strategic or if he felt unsure of the new anti. For me personally, I wouldn't think bringing out my b game against a much better player would be the preference! Especially one who's used to that style on a much higher level. Just my computer chair analyzing :p
