I have no idea why a such hard sponge, such as the Chinese sponge, dhs hurricanes, can be so spinny. can anyone answer my question? thanks.

but the creation of the spin rely on the sponge more than the top sheet. try to imagine the Chinese tacky top sheet only on a blade. again, O M G!

[edit] but I didn't said that the top sheet is useless.

To make something go fast you can push it softly for a longer time (like throwing a baseball), or harder for a shorter time (like hitting a baseball with a bat). A baseball bat is hard, but makes the ball go fast, right?

Hurricane/Skyline etc. hits the ball very hard for a very short time.

The tack just helps the ball hang on while it is being struck.

[For extra credit: Every hit of the paddle on the ball is partly through the center of the ball (that makes it go fast forward) and partly "tangential", along the surface of the ball, that makes it spin fast. When I was talking about the "hit", above, of course I meant the tangential part.]
