Are you talking about the WTTC in 2013? HZW won that 4-2. Besides, CWX is higher level than Jian Li.

Didn’t we ever confirm his blade? The op says BTY defense 4, I saw originally it said JSH. Now someone said Matushita of some kind.

I won't be surprised if all of the above are correct. At some point in time. Too lazy to go back and find a reference to a post of someone ('leatherback'?) who actually held his paddle.

Held his blade in my hands this Sunday  - it is Butterfly Matsushita Pro Alpha. Still Cloud & Fog III in OX (red).

Breaking news :P

If the program from the latest Westchester Open (8/2019) is to be believed, he now plays with VKMO and Spectol pips (no mention of exact model or sponge thickness).

Nice find. His old blade (Alpha?) and his new one (VKMO) are likely close enough and VKMO is a lot easier to find .. so makes sense. Plus he's likely open to try new things like all of us especially after a loss or two.

I'm really surprised that he'd make the jump all the way from OX LPs to short pips. Spectol is Hou Yingchao's rubber - I wonder if he was inspired to experiment with SP chopping by HYC the same way I was recently?

From about a week ago, I think. I don't know if it's Spectol, but I think he did change pips to something grippier - he dumps more BH pushes into the net than usual, has more BH chops that go high than usual, and a couple of BH blocks go to the moon.
