Interesting. I do understand this style very well, it looks like it got some KravMaga-inspiration as well.

Says Dtecs OX in one of the videos (the link in the middle opens up a YouTube and the comments has a link to the rubber he uses). No idea on the rest.

I'm interested in knowing what blade he's using. :^) He doesn't seem to have much difficulty keeping his table chops from sailing off the table. Is that from the additional sideways momentum carried into the downward chopping motion? Whenever I've tried using OX Grass D.tecs (On a re-impact tachi, even), the problem was always keeping the ball on the table. Once a certain amount of spin was achieved, if you reverse it, the magnus effect makes the ball slowly float right off the table in a straight line. I'm thinking maybe this minute sidways motion encourages the ball to come down. :|

With the new ball, I believe chop-block is dead now. Did you watch Manika Batra @ WTTC / CWG?

maybe not dead, but less effective for sure...

manika matches i saw all heavily depended on the ball they used...when they had this new btty one, she could not put the blocks on the table and were not underspin heavy

Funny that you bring it up that way in Manika's case: she did very well in CWG and decidedly less so in WTTC. Which one of these tournaments are you putting forward to support your argument?

First, in response to Egghead, the chop-block is not dead with the new ball. What might be a problem with the new ball is the PASSIVE block ... unless you use frictionless anti, perhaps. After the new ball, many at-the-table long pips players have had to switch away from passive blocking and more towards chop blocking in order to impart spin to a less spinny ball.

Second, in response to pgpg, didn't they use the old celluloid ball for the Commonwealth Games?
