I think it's interesting to see how he handles backhand pushing in this video. You can clearly see (e.g. at 4:30) that after every bh inverted push he twiddles to bh pimples in anticipation of the opponent's loop, and then twiddles back to inverted if the opponent pushes back.

It's amazing! Basically, he twiddles all the time, chopping with inverted and LP from both sides.

I made a bold statement the other day saying that it's not exactly possible or recommended to chop with V>15 extra... and then I came across these videos.
I don't know how he does it but his chopping game is :muscle:

That's what I use on my forehand and it chops well. I do think I'm going to go back to thinner sponge though...to be more chtchetinine-ish. When I'm not playing Jpen of course.

Just to put the above match in perspective, Erik Bottroff is one of the top players in the 2. Bundesliga (Germany's 2nd pro division) whereas Daniel plays in the 3rd division and Erik has almost 200 ratings points more. Bottroff had a record of 10-4 (won 10 out of 14 matches) in the 2. Bundesliga for the first half of the season and among others beat Kanak Jha (-3, -3, -5) and Damien Eloi. So Daniel played a great and very close match against a very strong opponent.

But what is the occasion that they meet, given that they play in different divisions?

It was a ranking tournament, the German top 48.

So I see he plays with TSP Balsa 3.5 ... which is a slow def blade. Averaging 75g and 5mm. His overall setup must be feather light (and thus slow) and that is the only explanation I have to why he plays with such a fast offensive rubber in max and is so consistent. (And of course he's very talented and trains hard  )

What are these tournaments for, do you know? Are they important for players in some special way?

It is indeed a light setup...and honestly it felt weird to me. (I bought the exact combination to test). I really didn't like it. I liked the weight, but not the feeling.

So he’s 2600+ maybe even 2700

Bottroff's German TTR is 2330 which corresponds to a USATT rating of about 2680 (+/- 50).
