Thanks for your answers Gollum! It sounds like you play a well rounded game. The beauty of this sport is that so many options are available for types of shots and playing creativity!

Keep on mixing it up!!! :Chop: :topspin:

Hello guys, I'm new here. I saw this thread and decided that I should take part in introducing myself.

I am from Virginia and have been playing in a sanctioned Table Tennis club.
Despite my young age of fifteen, I've been playing amateur table tennis for about six years; I've been competitively playing for a year now.
I'm more of an offensive minded player (lots of attacks and counterattacks), but I can returned about ten smashes before giving up. The shakehand grip is what I always play with.
Amateur - Intermediate
I'm a student in high-school and am hoping to attend The College of William and Mary shortly.
Playing basketball and studying - esp. Chemistry - are my favorite pastimes.
When I was looking for reviews about the Tenergy 64 I came across this forum.

I hope I didn't forget anything...

Hi, folks.

I'm from Brasil (or Brazil as you spell it) and I have four years of tennis table (and skate) experience. But that was 36 years ago (1971-1974)...

Now I'm a 50 years old translator and I really need to move my body. Therefore, I'm back to the game and I'm very happy about that. I'm not that good, but not too bad either. And I'm eager to learn more.

You won't see me posting a lot, but I wish to let you know I'm really proud to be here. This forum is outstanding (you know that) and I've been learning a lot before registering as a member.

Thank you all. :)

Hello everyone
I'm girl from Russia
I have been playing table tennis professionally for more than 6 years. Now I'm very good in it. I don't stop training and I want to be better (may be a master). I am two-sided looper, forehand is my stronger side.
I study in St-Petersburg University of PT, Health and Sports on pedagogical department, so my future profession will be table tennis coach.
I love this sport very much. It's difficult to imagine more difficult in technic, faster and breathtaking game in the world!
Russians like table tennis. But there are a lot of problems with good trainers, sport schools, sponsors and organizations.
It's interesting to me to know how TT develops in other countries, to find common themes, to know more about your training process.

Hi all, I'm Sigurd.
I play TT for 20 years now. I live in France near Paris.
I'm not a very strong player (there seems to be a lot of 2000+ players in this forum), but I hate losing matches when I play for my team : in this situation, I regularly win against better players... Some people say I'm a real pain in the ...
Especially since I changed my blade to better match my temper : Close to table variable attacker, Med pimps on CD, spinny backside for services and backend top spins ! Moreover I'm left handed !

Hey all, I'm Thomas and I live in Karlskrona, Sweden.
I used to play table tennis when I was younger, but then I quit and put my efforts into fencing instead. Now, ten years later, after watching the Olympics I got inspired and went and bought myself a new paddle and started again. Feels great =)

Hi Knorben!

That looks like a pretty good selection for a bat, paddle, racket!

Welcome back to the sport and to the forum! There is a lot of shared knowledge here!

Welcome, JOOLia. Perhaps you may be able to turn these trends around, and even inspire others to follow you.

jpvn15, It is good to have young US players, particularly in Virginia. The game seems to experience a revival recently, but mostly among older (20s and 40s?) enthusiasts. We also need younger players like you to seed the field with potential olympians.

FranciscoFux, Brazil has a long history of fine TT playing, and I am glad you are here. Keep us informed about how is the sport doing there these days. Perhaps, you may bring excellent players to Rio within 4 years!!! I really want to go this time.

sigurd, it is so interesting how your personality and left-handiness give you an edge in playing.

nick92, awesome to have you here. Malaysia should be rising with you. Young players have opportunities that we older players don't have. Do please, keep on refining your skills, and hopefully you will be representing Malaysia in many more venues.

Knorben, like you, I have been inspired by the Olympics. What a sight of hardwork, skills, and abilities. What were your thoughts while watching them?

Great playing, really, but I sure miss the days when Sweden was on top. Things were a little more interesting back then. Now it's such a safe bet that China wins you'd probably not even get your money back on it.

Welcome to the forum Knorben!

Yes I miss those days too. I don't have a problem with the Chinese (or any other country) dominating, but I find the style and games of the Swedish particularly enjoyable to watch. Perhaps the game was slower in those days too?
