Great find! You've done it again! I presume she is the one at the far end of the table, in the blue shirt... Very unusual blocking technique against topspin! She seems to keep the bat almost open and actually chop a little, very quickly, in a snap, even over the table when she has to reach for it, sending back massive backspin. Forehand capable of producing nasty backspin too. If her footwork was better, she would be an international player, but that remark is not meant in any demeaning way, on the contrary - people are what they are and this girl certainly makes the most of what she is.

She'll be in Plano, Texas the same weekend I am there for a tourney, so I'm going to try to record some of her matches.

Her skill level lies somewhere around 2400. She got a bit inflated when she first visited the US in 2010. She managed to beat Mark Hazinski, who was over 2600, due to her style that gives a lot of players trouble. She lost to Chance Friend twice who was 2438 at the time. She got rated in the middle at 2498.

She played another Texas Wesleyan University tournament where all of the top players were missing and ended up 2503. However, when she entered the 2010 US Open, she played a lot more players of different ratings and styles and dropped down to her current rating of 2398.

When she played Chance again today at a local club, he soundly beat her again, mainly because lp players give him very little trouble. It's a bit of a stretch to think of her as a 2500 in my opinion, though she is quite capable of accruing some wins over 2500+ players as her style and technique are just incredible.

She still lives in Taipei, Taiwan. She either was or is on the National Cadet Team. And she is like 17.

Here is a more recent video of her playing this past month in a non-sanctioned tourney.

Not even a little bit. That is all technique. You can tell because when she gets caught off guard the balls go really high. Also, 99% of what she does is active. She rarely ever blocks passively.

Quite a pleasing style. Nice backhand oriented game utilizing minor mobility, with good use of forehand when needed. Almost like pushblocker, but with a higher quality attack to capitalize.

I like the controlled, precise shots she uses -- as well as her ability to piss off the opponents  you can see the exasperation in their faces after a few misses.

Very pleasing and effective style indeed! Just wondering if it is long pips or some sort of anti on her BH (black) as it seems to be smooth and rather shiny on occasional close-ups :? That said her BH stroke play seems to be very long pips orientated :?:
