i am only critical since a have seen a lot of matches from her during the german top 16. she was very easy to play for her detractors. the backspin in the anti (if there was any backspin..) was very easy to read.....

and her results in the first german division are the importants facts to judge how good she plays. but i don´t know when she uses there the anti or a tt master pimple.

Lately though, Solja's opponents have been having some problems with her style. She got to the final of the TTStar event in May beating players like Tanja Hain-Hofmann along the way, then she reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open over the weekend (Hain-Hofmann was a finalist in that event). She was using the AMY anti at the US Open.

According to joola.de, Amy plays with the "Control" version in 0.4mm sponge. Interesting in that the "Classic" version supposedly offers more spin reversal.

If she doesn't care about spin reversal, it's hard to say what effect throws off her opponents so much using the repeated anti sideswipes she hits. If she beats a solid pro like Tanja Hain-Hofmann, there must be something very tricky about it.

are you sure?
i think the A-B-S would be a great rubber for her!

if yout trust JOOLA: she is playing the AMY control in 0,4 mm.

if you pay close attention to the matches during the junior champs in madrid like against ciao lisi or against lee, you will see that they often chopped after she blocked their topspin, indicationg that there is plenty of backspin..

I think it was Diamant/Gorilla in Madrid wasn't it?

By the way, Amy won the Under 21 during the US Open.

@AA

Chopping of your opponent is no evidence for great backspin! Any opponents are chopping because they are not sure how many backspin exists! Do you have a link to some current vids?

The most current vids are here from May:

http://com.martinspin.ch/video/09-ttsta ... fman-tanja
http://com.martinspin.ch/video/09-ttsta ... ie-v-guerz
http://com.martinspin.ch/video/09-ttstar-solja-amelie-v
http://com.martinspin.ch/video/09-ttsta ... ie-v-nemes
http://com.martinspin.ch/video/09-ttsta ... amelie-v-1
http://com.martinspin.ch/video/09-ttsta ... a-amelie-v

Seems like she's usually doing something to the ball that makes opponents uncomfortable.

@pascal- not only were they chopping, often, when they attempted in topspinning a second time, the ball landed in the net and even many of the chops landed in the net = backspin. the mere fact that they were insecure or not sure of how much backspin there is in the ball is a very positive aspect..

@AA I will have a look at the vids. I hope that she plays much better then before and I hope you´re right with your oppinion to the backspin.

Ich lasse mich da gerne eines Besseren belehren :-)
