He's certainly using sponge, not hardbat.

Pretty sure he used a standard 2.0 802 for most of his career.
Don't know if he upgraded to something more modern.

A couple of nice pictures came up just recently from stump in another thread that show the sponge pretty well. Hard to be sure, but looks in the 1.0mm range when you compare it to the sponge on the black side which appears like max to me.
To me The red pips in the photo looks to be TSP Super Spinpips.

How can someone get an up close photo like that? Maybe someone can translate that page? It looked like that thread was about someone building a recreated bat similar to zhi wens. If that really is his bat though, really cool just to see his gear up close.

You made a mistake Fleetwood999. You should have looked at the earlier photos in that thread that included HZW himself:

So are you saying that the photos stump linked to are not really HZW's blade ?

You were talking about the rubber.
The pictures that show HZW playing with it show a rubber definitely different from the one in stump's photo. It's definitely more than 1mm too.

(And no, I don't think it's his blade either.)

I really wish He Zhi Wen would have beaten this punk. Really nice blocking angles The Polish kid's "cho"ing was just over the top.

Sad :'( He's still a very good player, Excellent service and placement. He is/was a pain in the ass for a lot of opponents.

He Zhi Wen is indeed playing Premier level British League :)

https://www.tabletennis365.com/britishl ... _Glasgow_1

From what I've seen, every single player in that division struggles with his serves to quite an embarrassing extent. You'd think someone would be able to work them out by now..!
