This is taken from another thread- I'm interested in at least a couple, perhaps 3 DVDs of games with defenderes from the 2007 Aussie Open.

I've got about 6 hours 30 min footage of defenders (I'll post the full list below - I'm not including Brian Berry as such, or else it would probably be 8hrs). I can fit around 1hr 15 min per DVD, so you guys could pick and choose which footage you want.

If I got say 3 orders per DVD, I'd be willing to do it for $15 per DVD instead of $20 (the extra $5 is because usually a custom DVD is a one off that I'll never sell to anybody else, where as my premade DVDs I just have to run off a copy).

Anyway, here's the list of footage of defenders from 2007 Aus Open (doubled up matches are where the match goes over two tapes)

Craig Campbell vs Danny Semmler 0:08:44
Greg Letts vs Dennis Makaling 0:10:35
Craig Campbell vs Dennis Makaling 0:14:57
Craig Campbell vs Dennis Makaling 0:03:02
Greg Letts vs Brian Berry 0:14:07
Craig Campbell vs Brian Berry 0:22:56
Craig Campbell vs Brian Berry 0:01:42
Greg Letts vs Danny Semmler 0:18:58
Greg Letts vs Wade Townsend 0:14:38
Greg Letts vs George Tang 0:19:31
Craig Campbell vs Wade Townsend 0:07:56
Russell Stein vs Paul Pinkewich 0:10:09
Craig Campbell vs George Tang 0:15:36
Craig Campbell vs George Tang 0:03:00
Greg Letts vs Paul Pinkewich 0:25:00
Greg Letts vs Lukas Kozak 0:13:37
Craig Campbell vs Dane Coughlan 0:07:37
Craig Campbell vs Hayden Tapp 0:04:45
Paul Pinkewich vs Guy Fainbloom 0:15:41
Greg Letts vs Alex Swanson 0:19:58
Paul Pinkewich vs Simon Wallace 0:09:36
Paul Pinkewich vs Edwin Cotter 0:14:50
Greg Letts vs Scott Houston 0:25:53
Paul Pinkewich vs Craig Carter 0:09:50
David Zalcberg vs Paul Pinkewich 0:11:27
David Zalcberg vs Paul Pinkewich 0:05:17
Simon Gerada vs Paul Pinkewich 0:22:17
Kyle Davis vs Paul Pinkewich 0:08:16
Kyle Davis vs Paul Pinkewich 0:09:10
Dennis Makaling vs Paul Pinkewich 0:17:32

Is anyone else interested. If so, please post here. Also, are there particular games you'd like included, or would recommend as a good duel?

DTop, which games stand out in your memory? Do you recall any particually good tactical duels, or games with lots of rallies? (PS Games the defenders win get extra credit!)

Hmmm - notable games (with no bias on my part of course! )

Craig Campbell vs Brian Berry - nice comeback from Craig at 6-10 in the fifth to win.
Greg vs Danny Semmler - I was up 2-0 before Danny got his act together. You can see two halves of the match here.
Greg vs George Tang - some nice rallies in there.
Craig vs George Tang - likewise, Craig pushes George to 5 - good match.
Greg vs Paul Pinkewich - not that pretty to look at, but both of us were going at it with the twiddling - an interesting tactical matchup, with swings of momentum both ways.
Greg vs Scott Houston - Scotty clobbered me in the first 2, eased up a bit (and I changed tactics a little, hitting a bit more), allowing me to sneak the next two, and then it was on for young and old in the 5th (at that point Scotty hadn't lost a game yet during the Nationals, so I was doing OK). Scotty pulls out some great returns from deep in the backcourt during the match (the bugger!)
Simon vs Paul - Simon seemingly in control but Paul hanging in regardless.
Kyle vs Paul - first two games even - Kyle got on top after that
Dennis vs Paul - a cracker of a match, even though Dennis seemed to be enjoying himself too much! Paul wears him down even though Dennis hits some flamboyant winners.

The rest don't stick in my mind particularly, remember that I wasn't always watching the match myself, I was often off playing elsewhere at the time.

Cheers,
Greg

He's 50-something.
Can't remember the blade, currently using Tibhar Grass def 1mm. Or he was a couple of months ago. Pinke changes the pips quite often so that people don't get used to them.

I asked him this myself a month or to ago. He said he had three - with with Toni Hold Virus II pips, one with the Frustration (I think), and one with smooth both sides. But I believe he does like to switch pretty often.

How old? Mid to late 50's now I believe.

I talked to him about pips just yesterday, and he's still liking Tibhar Grass def. Owning your own TT shop, it must be hard not to be an EJ :D

For your info Fosss, Paul P is widely considered one of the greatest TT players Australia ever produced. In his prime he was WR top 20-30, which is hot for a defender, and even more amazing for an Australian! Today (mid 50's?) he's top 20 in Australia (as is DTop) which puts you around the WR 850-1100 range. Not bad for someone whose style depends on fast mobility!

I've been asked a couple of times elsewhere for the Defender DVD, so I'm going to put one together with the following matches from the 2007 Aus Open.

Dennis Makaling vs Paul Pinkewich 0:17min 32sec
Craig Campbell vs George Tang 18min 30
Greg Letts vs Scott Houston 26min
Kyle Davis vs Paul Pinkewich 17min

As a premade DVD, price would be $18 (or $15 if ordered with 3 other DVDs).

Arrrh, my list!!

OK, sounds great. I'll order this, and then make another list once I've seen more of these players.

Thanks DTop! (Please post once you're accepting payment.)

I'll make up the master DVD tomorrow (Wed), so you can order from then on. Just contact me via email and I can send out a PayPal invoice.

Mind you shoebox9, if you want the three DVDs you mentioned earlier in the thread, I'll do them for $15 each just to be nice to you!

Cheers,
Greg

You're very kind!

Seeing each of the games on the proposed Defenders Highlights DVD were spread across the 3 DVD's on my list anyway- the balance could just as easily be shuffled together onto 2 custom disks (rather than making 3 customs).

Thanks.

This is much less expensive than travel/accommodation to Melbourne. Also, players don't tend to repeat shots in slow motion for my convenience!
