it must be really annoying to have balls keep coming into your court.

This guy is really good, and I'd be happy to get thrashed by him just to get a chance to play him... and thrashed I would be...

I am afraid that is what happens when your opponent is able to stop you from playing your game and the rhythmn of the match is dicatated by him. It could be as simple as sheer difference in class or it could be a lack of experience or ability to change tactics mid game. For example, when Joo is down or his game is being "controlled", you will see play him looping more.

A: Come down to Singapore and I will try to arrange some games of this standard for you. I have to say though that in my view, this US#36 looks as if he has a few gears left.

Only watched first video (third set), no chance to win... He misses almost every serve reception and goes for long serves every time, that's a suicide strategy when playing a skilled top spin player.

PD: now that I've seen the other videos, the other two sets are better but I think the same, too many long balls and LP serve reception, too easy for the looper.

The chopper is you, right?

The attacker is made to look very non-2300

That's the idea  if he can't handle the spin variation he'll play below his level and lose.

I am not surprised. His body language after his first shot and after that tell it all. For a LP player, its a sign that your opponent is going to struggle mentally against you. To my mind, you are more than a couple of points up already. When they lose confidence or never had enough of it in the first place, you seem their timing (or in his case, his loops) go all over the place.

There are lots of good players out there that are very good generally but they do not play enough with players of different styles. They not only struggle with LPs; with good SP players; they will probably also struggle.

Which is why there are 2300 players and there are 2300 players. A classy 2300 will be a handful for many players. A "horses for courses" one, will only be effective against certain type of players.

He knows but thing is .... see when he loops long/out? It's not just heavy underspin that he has to deal with....some float too.

I watched a few videos of you playing various players (including the 2300 player who don't have a clue) on Youtube, and found that the players who beat you are those who actually understands long pip properties. These few players served more to your forehand with short side spins and attacked with pop up returns. The ones that they served long and caused you trouble are the BH side spins to your forehand also.
Basically, they knew they get a better chance of you popping up the ball to your forehand than your back hand.

Is there a reason why you served long all the time? To draw your opponent to loop you so you can chop with heavy down spin or float? I did saw a few counter attack (not a lot, but a few) on your BH pip with some success, but you mostly chop for defence. Wondering why you don't do more pip attacks?

I too have experimented with various different kind of pip rubbers, short, medium and long with or without spongy. I have tried the following rubbers: Friendship 802 OX, Winning NP-2 OX, Frienship 803 OX, Double Happeyness C 7 OX, Friendship 755 OX and 0.6 and various thickness, Prasidha 1615 1.0, Dr Neubauer Inferno 0.6, Dr Neubauer Boomerang 0.6, Butterfly Feint -OX, and various spong thickness, TSP curl OX, and finally Prasidha Long-A 1.1.

I have settled on Prasidha Long A for 2 reasons. First, it last a lot longer than the other pips, and second, the more important one, this pip allowed me to do most invert rubbers strokes (counter hitting, serve with side and under spins, counter looping , though not as effective) and still has retain the majority of long pip properties (attck all under spins by lifting, side wipe etc)

By the way, how long will your pip rubbers last if you play everyday for 2 to 3 hours? Mine lasted only 3 to 4 days and the pips will fall out. I used to glue them back, but now, I don't need to.

Not like you, I seldom play tournaments. I played mostly with my friends in my garage and trained with my robat. We would just hit for 2 hours and play serve and returns for another hour or so. That is how I discovered the various hitting properties of the Long A rubber. The last time I entered a tournament was 2 years ago on the San Diego Senior Olympic for age 50 to 54 (I was 58). I got third place in singles and 2nd for doubles. It was fun but pretty expensive entry fees, I think. I did played another tournament some 15 years ago in Los Angles, but that was long time ago.

Sorry for all the questions, however, now that I have seen you play, I just have the urge to write and wish to see more of your play.

Sean Lonergan ranked #30 in the US.....too high for me now. He fooled me with serve several times.

Confident that at this level, no one can beat my pips. Attack with pips is for a surprise, these 2150+ can easily deal with LP attack if they know it's coming. Gotta use when not expected Another reason is that I can fool them with no spin serve easier with long serve. If you see MORE of my video, you'll know that I wins lots of points from heavy and no spin serve but obviously these 2300 can read them well. Sean Lonergan is the only one that if I have to play again now I would serve short, I want the rest to loop to my pips

I too have experimented with various different kind of pip rubbers, short, medium and long with or without spongy. - I know ...... our techniques are far from perfect. we will always search for the magic LP that helps us the most!!!!! I took a year to find P1-R as my weapon.

Well, my wife took some video of the matches, I guess I can find they are located. How do you post videos? You did yours on youtube.com, unfortunately, I have never done that before. How do you start?
