There's a guy from Sacramento named James Therriault who is a phenomenal lobber. He's so good at it that he'll often start a point by lobbing. He is rated at around 2300.

They are annoying, to say the least. I have played a guy in the club who did exactly like that in the California game in the over 50 division. Later, I found out that's exactly how he practiced, even with his wife. Boy, do this take patience which I don't have much. :(

Yes, the kick and spin variations you can get on a lob can be huge... slow balls can kick so much more...
