I dont think Wang is an up and comer. I've seen him in chinese trials vids for a few years. For some reason he does very well inside china but doesnt ever make the team. I'm not sure but I think he was actually national champion one year. Maybe the coaches are prejudiced against the 'japanese' blade :)

He had match point but couldn't close the door on Ma Lin  ,
Ma Lin is truely world class!!!

I still think the chinese can't do dropshot well... he had plenty of time to tie his shoelaces before getting to the ball

thanks Speedplay

There is a sufficiency of Wangs to cause confusion but 2 JJ's who both happen to be right handed penholders with j/k blades? I doubt it greatly.

I'm not saying he's actually old anyway. But even at say, 23, and not having made a chinese traveling team yet it's hard to imagine much future internatianally. In the usa or probably even in sweden jj would have many great years in front of him. Given the incredible chinese depth I think he'll never be on a team.

I always have a hard time judging people's age and it seems to be extra hard with Asians, not sure why. Have to be something with recognition points kind of stuff...

You have trouble with Asians because they don't age(as in looks) as dramatically as Westerners. I mean compare a 50 year old British person and a 50 year old Chinese person. You will be surprised by the difference!

Westerners also tend to look older earlier (teens).

PS. I don't mean to use Westerners as a racist term, just a generilisation of those in Europe and America.
