Anyone know off a software program that allows
side by side comparison? The idea is to take two videos and comparing them side-by-side video.

He is way too busy ready for the 2012 Olympic nowadays, you might have to wait a while. ;)

The side by side in the videos I've done typically uses two layered video tracks with each video track resized so both tracks fit into the dimensions of normal widescreen tv. This won't work for you.

However, other software I use which I know will let you do what you are asking is "kinovea" - I've practiced with Kinovea doing what you ask but never used it for this purpose in the videos I do - I use Kinovea more for motion tracking. TT Edge brought this program to my attention and it does allow side by side comparison and a lot more. The help files are basic but they'll show you how to do the side by side comparision and I think overlays - it just needs a little homework from you before you'll get to grips with it. Works fine, and does much much more and best of all it's freeware.

There are other programmes out there that do what you require but they are typically designed with golf, ten pin bowling, baseball or tennis in mind.

haggisv, the boys are on the way round! Tat, way too busy with the GB vs Australia international!
