After the wanted prohibition of frictionless pips, the hilarious impossibility of downloading the match of your favourite player from itTV, now splendid ITTF video's out of sync. :alien: Check the match of Joo - Mizutani here:

http://www.ittf.com/_front_page/itTV.as ... y=ittv_New

Korea Open, MS QF Joo against Mizutani.

If that wasn't enough, the lighting above the table in combination with a white game ball is just art.

Cheers,
Lorre

PS: Out of sync means that video and audio don't match each other.

OK, did you find out if it was the ITTF who did the video, or did ITTF merely requested live feed from possibly a TV station for ITTV?

To the best of my knowledge Korea Open was broadcast by Korean broadcaster KBS Sport (i.e. they supplied the feed) so blaming ITTF for that techie blooper is a bit of a blooper in itself. You can write KBS here and complain about their lack of tech cred if you feel like pursuiting the matter further, hehe ;) http://www.kbs.co.kr/

Ok, so some of you guys don't like sarcasm. You should try it, though, it is a great way to deal with everyday problems.

Problem is we all got different ideas of that concept.

I probably have one of the worst problems in that department of all the members of this forum.

Oh, I love sarcasm as it does sort out some fairly irritating everyday annoyances when used in the right context.

But the problem with sarcasm is that it needs to be based on an actual fact. If not, it turns into something lacking sarcasm's necessary measure of wry wit and therefore carrying a less than flattering payback for the one uttering it in the first place. He or she is usually the last to realise this.

I am not trying to be sarcastic here, but it is all rather ironic in my view ;)

I agree with you totally. The question is: what are the actual facts? Whatever channel broadcasted the match or whoever the actual agent is of the "messed up" videos, ITTF put it on their site, right? Putting the video on their site makes the ITTF responsible, even if the organisation was only 0,000000000001% responsible for the whole process and this on its turn makes the fact actual.

You can view it like this: when comparing this putting the videos on their site with their actual goal (i.e. making the table tennis sport available for as many people as possible and for a tv audience), then putting videos out of sync online doesn't help, in contrary: they shoot in their own foot. Making a sarcastic remark about an organisation that shoots in their own foot is appropiate, I believe: especially when it is hurting ordinary players like me with their sometimes ridiculous measures. Off course, the fact needs to be actual. Off course, what is "actual" filosofically speaking? The line between actual and perceived is long gone, so in fact facts don't need to exist in reality: if they are perceived as real, it makes them apporiate to make a sarcastic remark about.

I perceive the ITTF putting the video online as being partly responsible for the process, a process that contains a operation called "putting a video online", so, consequently, this responsibility makes the fact actual, the fact which the sarcastic remark is based on.

That's an interesting conclusion to draw from it...

He's got a point though... Surely the ITTF should check the video before they out it into their site.

mmm

I actually think that the issue with the table glare is a filtering issue (lack of filters!) on the camera itself.

Reckon it lacked a polarizing filter to filter out the lights above?

(Also, would that solve my table glare issues as well? :D)

Yes, I think it may require a polariser.

There could also be a slight colour filter there as well
