What is the difference between 563 and 563-1 and how does this relate to their playing characteristics?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the -1 designation always signifies that the rubber is less spinny than the regular version.

Someone more informations about the difference of these two rubbers?

The -1 stands for a wider space between the pips

What is the main difference in characteristics while playing ?

A little decrease in the ability to generate spin, an increased effect of sink and wobble, less susceptibility to high spin shots and serves, maybe a bit more speed

Thats what I think, but I haven't actually played with this rubber so my accountability is low

I have both 563 and 563-1 and didn't notice much difference in how they played. I think my 563-1 is 1.5mm.

I have only used 563 but I have played against 563-1 and that one reverses spin more, it is more like a lp. Still it has some characteristics of a sp left. Very difficult to play against if the person who uses it can handle it (well... that goes for must rubbers ).

If I was after spin reversal though, I would not be playing a medium pip. For me medium pips is all about attacking through spin with very little spin of your own. I have seen people chop with it even at the world level but I do not think that is the strength of medium pips.

563-1 medium-pip is the best off speed blocking rubber, but it can also hit very well. Balls hit with 563-1 have some sink and some deception. This rubber performs best with 1.5, but 2.0 and thicker can be used for increased spin generation, thinner, or NO sponge can be used to promote the rubbers chopping, deception and spin variation abilities.

I used to play 563-1 the -1 means raw or untreated rubber, there are 802-1 and 799-1 ( now off the approved list )

The raw rubbers are wobblier and reverse the spin better but are hard to control and more susceptible to in coming spin. 563-1 is closer to LP than the std 563
