I bought it after reading it was used by Fukuhara (not confirmed). I just wanted to try it, no big expectations. However, I've been using it for the last couple of weeks. I must say I liked it a lot. Offers amazing control.

A coach at our club (formerly our national team coach, and played with SP/MP during his career) tried it and then suprisingly tried to get it off my hands. He did amazing things with it, plays with very small wrist movements and plays off the bounce.

I don't think I have enough background to review a pip but will try if any questions. BTW any other member used it?

I've never even seen any armstrong rubber, but i would expect them to have some very good stuff.

I've never seen it either. You can get it from Presports in Malaysia, a company I have had good results with.

It is a medium or a short pip?

I saw on the IruIru site that the thickness ranges for the Armstrong Attack 8 Medium Pips is 2.0 to 4.0. Is that right? Am I reading it wrong?

Can someone recommend a thickness for for this rubber? I just started playing again after 14 years and am transitioning to short pips. My game's still evolving right now. Trying to figure it out. I guess, I'm an all-round, close to the table player. I'm currently playing with Stiga Clippa 1.8 on my backhand and would like to test this rubber.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi RHE!, welcome to the forum.

I have played with an Armstrong short pip rubber 30 years ago, but since then switched to long pip. in fact, I bought my first Armstrong C-Pen blade in the San Diego Table Tennis club when I first arrived and it is still in my possession.

Can't recommend any thickness because have not played with any armstrong rubbers lately. However, if it is a med pip, then I would try the 1.5 mm thickness.

Armstrong Thickness equivalence:

Code:
Armstrong                           Butterfly

4                                        2.1-2.3

3.5                                      1.9-2.1

3.0                                      1.7-1.9

2.5                                      1.3-1.5…(approximately)

2.0                                      0.5-1.1…(approximately)

It says that the measurement is including the topsheet. So from the base of the sponge to the tip of the pips.

If the measurement include topsheet the longer pimple the thinner the sponge.

i tried this out in 3.5 thickness red, and it is truly wonderful! i swear it's spinnier than my DHS 652, but its much slower, easier to control. Sponge is soft, and the red one has a beautiful red sponge (the black sheets have orange). plays like a short pip. absolutely no reversal on blocks, however, they are completely dead, if done passively. with small wrist movements it can be topspin blocks, chopblocks, sidespin blocks, dropshots. i absolutely love it.

Right now I'm trying out the attack 3M 1,5 mm black.

A medium pip 1,2 mm long and 1,8 mm wide.

Anyone know the difference with the attack 8M?

Nope, the packet was sent two days ago from Iruiru, so I'll probably get it next week.
