I think it also depends of your playing style, chopper, close to the table blocker, agressiv, defensiv player.

If you are a chopper, Dr. N Barricade is fine or agressiv blocker 729 Bomb

Cheers

Friendship 563 on a fast blade. I have back up blade-one ply hinoki-Stiga radical on the FH and 563 on the back. People I play hate when I drag this blade out. The Radical is very spinny and the 563 is very dead. I even twiddle with it. Drive some opponents nuts.

I am very aggressive with it. I push rarely-its all about offense, but to really see a master watch Maio Miao . There is plenty of her in action in vid section.

729 Bomb or Donic Cayman. Cayman is very light and thick balsa
Cayman review from ttnpp.com
Style: OFF+ Control: 6+ Speed: 10

All-round with good feel
DONIC developed with the CAYMAN, an extremely light and relatively fast all round blade with high rigidity and excellent control. This blade is especially suitable for players using pimples. The hard outer plies are particularly effective when using long or short pimples. Blocking and counter attacking become more deadly and more troublesome, especially for long pimpled players. Amazing control, with no lessening of speed, permits the player using this DONIC blade to attack and defend and enjoy his game. This does not only apply to players using pimples.
Opticon TECHNOLOGY

I have both blades and like both.
Cheers
Geddk

Any thoughts on the best speed of a blade for a MP attacking player (BH, 1.5 mm)? I've used slower blades (Matsushita Pro Special, Gambler arylate/carbon) and faster blades (Viscaria, TB ZLF, Michael Maze A/C). Faster blades seem better overall, since it is easier to generate speed in block/hitting. However, there seems to be better control on with slower blades for the soft touch block shot against the opponent's fast drive ball. What is your experience with OFF, OFF- and ALL+ blades and others?

Hi, my balsa blade gives me all the speed i want when i decide to play more aggresive without losing too much control, the ball sinks into the balsa then rebounds like a rocket :)
Balsa, just a thought!

I agree! A friend of mine at the club has Dr. Neubauer Diamant on a balsa blade, very controlled and springy at the same time! :)

I [played a buddy this week with 563 on my old ALPA pro which is a very hard blade. The 563 1.5 black played like a real champ-every time he pushed a cracked it with the medium pips-even ball well below net height were flick away. When he looped I could either jab block or counter with a flat hit (not a topspin drive-this is a short pips shot). The "sink " was in good form and the ball kind of hits and skideds rather than kicks off the table.

I like an OFF- blade like Michael Maze A/C - it is soft and gives excellent control for blocks and looping close to the table. However, I've used the Viscaria (A/C) previously, and it is faster (OFF) and not bad for control. I tried the Timo Boll ZLF - it's too fast for me, but could be a good blade, especially for away from the table play. I use 1.5 mm medium pips, but may try 1.0 mm or thinner, so long as I can control blocks against fast and varied loop drives (and flat drives) to my pips side. I did use the Matsushita Pro Special (OFF- or ALL+), but it is a little too slow for me--hard to generate power on loop drives and smashes. Control on blocks with the MPS is excellent, however. If you have good touch, you can possibly get away with playing with a fast blade such as the TB ZLC--this perhaps would permit you to step back to mid-distance away from the table.
