This was very interesting, a soft but very fast short/medium "raw" pip. In 1.9 it was noticeably faster than my usual Giant Dragon 8228A-FC even in 1.8 mm.

Sponge is a very soft but dynamic light green that was far quicker than I expected considering how soft it felt.

The rubber tested on the forehand side of my Jack Miller Katana blade didn't need much force behind it for the ball to explode off the blade, whether punch blocking or smashing.

Spin was deceptively strong serving and if I could keep the ball on the blade long enough, i could loop with it as well.

I would love to try this in 1.5 sponge as in 1.9 it's just a bit too fast for my game right now. For someone who wants to play a power game, it would be super.

Interesting review. I know another longtime 563 player who also wishes this pip was available in 1.5mm. Where did you purchase yours? And could you review your 8228A-FC?

got it here from One of a Kind Trading.

There is a review of 8228A-FC on the forum here, either under short or medium pimples.

Been playing with this with my 11 year old and after putting on an all wood blade, it seems to be more manageable. Will try again with my regular training partner as it does have a nice feel and is very all around.

Noticed that Eacheng sells this as a 1.7 with 38 hardnesss sponge, so maybe next time Alex orders he could get the thinner, harder version of it.

Andrew, have you had a chance to try the rubber again with your training partner? Any secondary impressions? Thanks.

Hi agooding2, can you compare Friendship Legend 105 with Palio Flying Dragon in terms of throw angle, bounciness and ability to loop underspin ball? Thank you.

I haven't tried Palio Flying Dargon, hope to use the 105 more this week.

Hi agooding2. What is your opinion now on the Friendship Legend vs the Giant Dragon 8228A FC after trying both for a period of time?

Sorry, been out of town and haven't played for awhile, hope to do so soon. only played against my 11 year old with the Legend 105, so it's not a full test of the rubber's capabilities.

It's a hard bat rubber, check the archives for a review from a year or so ago.

I find myself in the process of attempting to go with pips on both sides. I have used Legend 1.7 38degree on a very fast blade(YinHe T-4). Still working to get the control I want. Of note, I have looked at 563-1 to go with my LP's(mostly OX) and liked its ability to make the ball sink after hitting the table. Number one concern is ability to impart spin, especially on serves. The Legend to me betters the 563-1 by far. Actually, I am a little amazed at the amount of spin I get with the Legend. I have ordered a 1.9 with softer sponge to try on the T-4. Can anyone compare the 563-1 to the Legend for me?
