Really... :o I found the 1.0 version too be quite slow with very good control. Very good in all passive strokes (serve return, passive block, push) but not particularly great offensively (smash, active blocking, counter). I did not like it on slower, soft blade (Stiga All Classic) but it works fine on a harder, faster carbon blade.

So are the pips fat like most medium pips or narrow and medium length like Dr Evil?.

They are very narrow, fairly long (longer than Dr. Evil as far as I remember) for a mp and rather soft so they can actually bend on chopping. They kind of look like a shrunk long pip. I found it to be somewhat similar to Gambler Peacekeeper.

Indeed!, lucky they are cheap and that most of them are rubbish  . I've really only extensively tried medium pips and I concluded that I don't like them, the best of the mediums for me was 563. Still hard to go past Dr Evil but I need to experiment with hitting long pips and a few oddball ones like this pimplemini before I conclude Dr Evil is as good as it seems.

well foam, I am most interested in thin sponge and ox SP reviews, so I look forward to the review on the 1.0mm Pimplemini!

:Chop:

I have been really enjoying the ox 799. I'm getting used to it! It has enough grip to hit flicks against backspin serves, and just enough non-sensitivity to spin to be very accurate in ways that inverted is not.

I'll post my review either here or in the short pips section depending on how it plays !. Someone duplicated my post into the medium pip section when I originally posted it in short pips so there seems some debate about what exactly these are. I'm favouring the ox sp myself at the moment but if I can find a low spin short pip who plays well with sponge then I'd much prefer to use sponge, it gets a little dodgy returning fast balls with ox because you can't control how much power you are sending back very well. I'm going to have to try both Dr evil and 802-1 on super soft sponge at some point.

Actually, I would say more similar to the 755-2 not the 755 which is a regular long pip.

I received this rubber, the pips are slightly higher than the typical short pimple and even narrower than Dr Evil. You would call it a very short long if anything because the width and spacing are typical for an all out long pip. It's in that similar area as dr evil or a medium as far as spin reversal goes. Kinda in the middle when you get dead balls with no spin like Dr Evil or one of the more slippery medium pips. Its a soft raw pip, it "feels rubbery" and vague like a long pip not crisp like a cooked short pip. Should be interesting, I have it on 1.0mm sponge. I'll have a session with it next weekend.

I havent tried 889-2, its like 802-40?. I haven't used that either. I don't really want to use anything more spinny than original 802, the chopability and dodgy hitting goes away once you start getting into the spinny stuff.

Yes it is, except the 802-40 sponge tends to be softer.
