The Doc comes again with a new medium pip: Dr Neubauer KO

Info:

K.O. -- > Disruptive effect and control with half-long pimples

The new rubber K.O. comes in addition to our half-long pimple rubber AGGRESSOR which we launched 2016.

While AGGRESSOR is most effective while playing actively (active blocking, counter-attacking, hitting) the new K.O. also produces a distinctive disruptive effect with low bounce while blocking passively.

Also K.O. provides great control, including and especially for service returning and pushing over the table.

This makes K.O. a very effective half-long pimple rubber with great control.

Category: Half-long pimples
Colours: red +black
Sponge: 1.3 + 1.5 + 1.8 + 2.0mm
Speed: 92
Spin: 81
Control: 94

Somebody played already with or against it.
Difference with AGGRESSOR or other pips: ??
pimple geometry, grippy/ungrippy, attacking backspin, defensive /attacking possibilitys, rebound other side table, pips hardness / flexibel,…

Hi Everyone,

I have ordered a sheet of Dr Neubauer K.O I will be testing it shortly and and more than happy to post a review on here
I also have aggressor so comparing them won't be a problem.

I will be testing sometime soon but I can't say an exact date.

Hi Peter Pong,

Yes I currently use Dr Neubauer Monster Classic Long Pips in a 2.0mm sponge on my forehand, however these long pips Io find play very similar to reversed rubber (with a very slight adjustment on angles and contact points) they produce a lot of spin, not just a lot for long pips, but a lot of spin full stop. You can loop, block and even flat drive, all these shots also produce a disruptive effect, taking into consideration this rubber is fast! Your opponent will have to face a fast spinning disruptive ball, I personally find when combined with a very slow with a different kind of disruptive effect on the backhand (I use Dr Neubauer buffalo) that you can really cause havoc on your opponent and set points up for the kill!
I work as a table tennis coach Specialized in teaching pips out and anti-loop, I have found a couple of my students worry that they can't produce enough spin with pips out on service, therefore at a higher playing level they won't get a look in at the rally, however with the Monster Classic the spin is amazing you can even produce the infamous "ghost service" (with the right technique) I will be creating a video sometime soon showing this :)

Apologies if this reply has been a bit long winded, but I thought I would give you a comprehensive reply to why I use LP on the forehand

Hi Peter pong,

That's great to hear! Pips and anti can be a great weapon of choice, I see it says your using Tac C (I'm guessing tacky chop??) may I ask why you swictched back to reversed?

I'm based in Yorkshire UK however I operate coaching across the U.K. Please feel free to take a look at my website for more information on my company. (Dark Arts Table Tennis)

Hi Everyone,

I have had a go with the K.O a couple weeks ago, a couple of the players I'm sponsoring have taken it to china for a couple of weeks of training, once its back i should have a good comprehensive review from them.

My impressions of the K.O:

Its good! The effect is brutal, with lots of weird skidding floating horribleness, the throw angle is very low! this is good against high spin loops for keeping them on the table, also counter attacking, but can take a bit of getting used to.

If you have not used Aggressor i would recommend a good length of training with this (i won't say a rough time because that purely depends on how quick you grasp the feel of rubber everyone will be different at this)

compared with aggressor, the throw angle is a little lower and its more controllable, speed wise its very similar, the feel of the rubber is very similar just with the lower throw (with helps a lot on counter attacks) and the step up in control (by that I'm meaning its easier to land the shots on the table)

The real way to think of this rubber is almost as a Aggressor 2.0 with the updates and bugs fixed so to speak
im not in anyway suggesting this is an easy to use rubber and it will take PRACTICE but if you PRACTICE and spend time with it you will have a VERY DECEPTIVE set up. If your really struggling with this rubber don't give up! perhaps consider getting something like the Diamant pips that are easier to use and stage the K.O. in.

Is sponged KO any lighter than sponged Aggressor which I found to be too heavy for my target paddle weight?

Hi Nathanso,

To be completely honest this is something i didn't check but probably should have :D

Thinking about it i didn't notice an major difference, however it was on a different blade, with a heavy forehand, currently a customer has that sheet on test once there back i will check the weight, or if i get another sheet in before then.

Do you mind me asking what thickness your using? If you really liked the Aggressor but just found it a bit heavy, maybe a thinner sponge version would help out there? or a lighter blade.

ok great, have you thought about the 1.3mm? it plays similar and you get a bit more disruptive effect, however you wouldn't save much weight but possibly a little, have you though about a lighter blade? As soon as i can i will weigh the sheets for you

Can the K.O. ox be used as an aggressive long pips for blocking, and pick out loose ball at the table? Has anyone ever tried K.O in ox?

Tried the K.O ox after removing the sponge with an iron last week. The result.......very bad.....just couldn't find any way to control it. Tried to use LP strokes, it didn't work. Tried to do SP strokes, it just didn't work.

I have re-glue the K.O. top sheet to a GP 1.5mm sponge and will use it as a SP/MP later this week and see how it goes.
