It's sort of a "lift". Rather than push a backspin ball, you lift it with an open racket face, and send the spin back (as topspin). I've also heard it referred to as a "bump", but these tend to be a little faster and from further back. Easier to do with medium and long pips than it is to do with inverted (since there is more of a reaction to the spin with inverted). I suppose you could call it a flick, it's got a lot in common with the old classic hardbat flick (watch videos of Barna). Iskandar |

Roll is just a way of describing a topspin with pips since pips don't really add topspin. |
