Looks promising. Hopefully good for an allround game with some deception en attacking opportunities (opening up)
On the site from spinlord they say that it is more deceptive than Keiler und Gipfelsturm.
So on the good way :)

Have you ordered the hard or the soft sponge version? The soft one looks easier to play with as long as it does not bottom out to much in 1.5mm when blocking hard shots like Keiler can.

Hopefully it is indeed a bit slower on passive strokes than Keiler which I find difficult to short block or chop loops with as the surface is so lively. Spinlord rate Orkan at 9 for speed compared to 10.5 for Keiler and slightly higher for spin.

I ordered that with soft sponge. I hope I get little bit more deception with this than Keiler. But well see...

One practise made with Orkan.

1.Opening backspin not so good as Keiler
2.Topspin vs topspin bot so good as Keiler
3. Speed slower
4. DEception about the same
5. Blocking might be better
6. Backspin and chopping little better
7.short game felt little better

Frst time didnt make me impressed with this. But I try few weeks and then I know better.

Ok looking forward to hear from you Soba.

If it has not more deception than keiler and not easy to open up backspin, it will not be for me i guess.

I think this rubber is not for me. It might be better for little more defensive player. choping, pushing, blocking and counterattackin are quite good. My playing style is more offensive so I dont like it. Maybe with that different sponge?

Thank you for the feedback on this new rubber. Probably needs a slightly harder faster blade than your Timo Boll All for attacking play as most thin sponge pips out rubbers are heavily influenced by the blade.

However with the recent sponge change on Keiler and needing a bit more defensive capability on my BH I might give it a try.

Does Orkan feel a bit harder or softer than Keiler in play?

when playing Orkan feels little bit harder. Not much. Now i bought Donic Cayman from flea market. It cost 1 euro and its old as Metusalem. Anyway I made a funny bat. I put Orkan 1,5 mm backhand and XP pro to forehand. I played very well with that combo. Orkan was so dangerous. It was very easy to open backspin, playing short and long, wide, middle controll was so good. Topspin playing is not its strenght, but I think its normal with medium pimples.

I never trust the feeling after first practise but Ill play with this combination more. Its woth it.

Looking at user reviews the Cayman with its light weight and hard outer Plies is a very good blade for pips out rubbers which is probably why you are finding Orkan works well on it.

How would you compare Orkan to Hellcat in spin and speed. I am looking for a Keiler alternative with a bit more control and defensive capability but still good ability to impart topspin coming from inverted rather than LP on the backhand.

Orkan deception better than Hellcat. Hellcat little better with topspin and little more speed. Backspin (pushing choping),blocking, control better than in Hellcat.

Thanks Soba. Looks like I will have to try Orkan 1.5mm in the new year especially as about £15 cheaper to me than Hellcat

Two shortish sessions with Orkan black 1.5mm on my Sauer & Troga black & white blade.

First impressions are that it is definitely not a rubber for standard inverted/spinny short pips technique and quite different from the other Spinlord short/ medium pips and probably more like KO. Pips are narrower and quite wide spaced and vertically arranged. As Soba mentioned above, not that good for counter topspin but very easy to straight blade block with and lift backspin. An excellent weapon against pushers and choppers and long pips.

Quite easy to p!ay with once blade angles etc adjusted but not much disruptive effect. That may come as the sponge and pimples soften up.
