Hi..

I buy the rubbers from OOAKT for a few friends and the latest one that they are very happy with is the OX 563 from Friendship...

Do we expect to have much variation between rubbers of the exact same kind??

He says one 563 rubber is made at a different factory to another 563..and probably as a consequence of that one measures 3.25 pips to the inch and the other measures 4 pips to the inch...

He says they play similar, but just asked me to ask about it so I have ...lol

Hi Foss,

I only ever have had the one sheet of 563 so I can't make a comparison. This one has 1.8mm sponge on it to, so I'm sure it would even act very differently to their Ox. I haven't played with it a lot as I put it on a blade for a few hits while I was with my C7 midpips. But now I've gone back to LP with the Palio.

I'd be a little surprised if the variation was that much...of course if different glue was used on each sheet, one could be stretched a lot more than the other?

Another possibility is that one came directly from China, the other was an export version. Generally you can expect a little better quality control for export version compared to that sold locally, although for some brands the rubbers are the same...

Hi Alex..I asked him what he measured, and he was measuring the pips per inch on the corners he trimmed after glue dried...Also, as I mentioned its probably due to the fact that there were different manufacturers for each of the two rubbers..

I have watched the boys hit this particular rubber from the side, and the ball has an amazing flight path with topspin hit balls, and that is it you can hit balls from lower than net height and the ball goes straight till it gets over the net and then it drops quickly to the table giving a huge margin for error...as against looking at the flight path of an 802-1 which goes pretty-well straight and has little obvious drop to the table compared to 563 which has heaps of quite a sharp angle drop...I have never seen a pip rubber with that quality so visible...they are very pleased with its playing characteristics, both in OX and also with a .6mm 729 sponge added.

There are two versions, 563 and 563-1. The 1 has wider spacing(otherwise the same). Both are good for hitting and produce a very flat fast block. If fast dead balls are your game, this rubber is IT. Also very good for serve return, IMO better than many long pips (less reversal but easier to get the ball back).
