Has anyone had a hit with Dr Neubauer Diamant yet?

Of interest to me is "...thanks to its very soft pimples".

I'm quite surprised by how easy Pistol is to chop with, seeing short pips are supposed to be really difficult to chop with well. Easier than what I'm using now, but still more difficult than sponged grippies of course.

Better off with long pips IMO

Diam... whatever has a good range of sponge sizes 1.2mm included I think. Hard medium pips 587 (again I forget the name and I've got some!) are only good for attacking. The Neubauer rubber is probably similar to Leggy but has shorter pips (leggy is 0.75 aspect ratio - Neubauers will be around 0.5).

I'd go for Hallmark Frustration or stick with 955. Problem with heavily aggressive pips is they have no versatility when your not attacking and the range of spins that pips can produce is a good source of points.

Yeah just to confirm that. The problem with Neub stuff is that it is seen as 'magic', when in fact there are just as good, if not better products elsewhere. Even their flagship product "SuperBlock" I wouldn't mind betting (although I don't bet) that Hallmark Original was just as good. Donic Allegator and Allegator soft had they been produced by Neub. would have a dedicated fan base.

One of the Neub. blades must be good - the ALL blade that retails for £100 must be pretty reasonable for it to sell at $200.

I can hear the Neub. fan base mounting their rear guard assault as I type! ;)

The Dr's stuff is good, but, as you say Hallmark etc. can be even better. I have 2 Dr N blades, and while they both do what they claimed very nicely, I doubt I'll buy a third.

I'm interested in a mediium pip that allowed 2 things-

- Good to chop with away from the table- softer pips would help this, but of course there are other factors too in designing a good chopping pip.
- Could be used to create underspin or topspin when pushing against underspin at the table. (My newest goal is to become a master at this..! That Chen Longcan video is a total insperation.)
- The bonus would be that because they are medium pips, blocking and pure hitting could be more aggressive.

Maybe once I try choppin with P1r .5 or Guillotine, I'll never go back, but till then I'm asking questions. :D

Ok but you should also then consider TSP P2 and particularly P3 if you are set on quality medium pips.

TSP P3 is used by one of the woman pros - the forum guys know who she is.

Its just the new Neub. rubber doesn't have a track record whilst Leggy, P2 and P3 certainly do. Personally I'd go for P3 and put some medium sponge under it.

TSP Curl Bamboo was one of my favourite long pips (Haggisv still has it!), although it'll get banned. The problem with TSP was they don't have a strong enough marketing base.

Good advice. :D

I've only seen 2 TSP pips so far, but they are both fantastic.
