Sanwei Red Monkey Butt Pistol Grip blade 80.20g Just glued some rubber on it (729 FX and 729) - total weight 154.16g. This is 18 grams less than my N11-based rackets. Rubber area turns out to be about 167 sq. cm. rather than 200. Iskandar |

I had it out once - it's weird enough that I'll only take it out again once I feel I can devote a couple weeks to it. The contact area is (as you can imagine) slightly below where you expect it to be. I'm not sure if it's well suited for the close-to-the-table pushing game our matches devolve into.. Iskandar |

Here's a new blade I'm in the middle of trying. Available for $7 including shipping (at least for now). Sanwei M8: This particular sample weighs 71.45 grams. The webpage selling this blade says 79g, but I did ask for the lightest blade in stock. I put a sheet of Yinhe 9000 (backhand) and, since this is a light blade, I thought I'd try Haifu Whale (the last sheet I opened came out to a really porky 78.02g). This one was 10 grams lighter, albeit without the tuning. Maybe the tuning is an extra 10 grams, but more likely, some rubber does have HUGE differences in density from sheet to sheet or batch to batch. Not much you can do without buying 20-30 sheets from various places (if you get it all from one place, it's probably from the same production batch), opening all the packaging (some of this stuff is vacuum packed) and weighing it all. Yinhe 9000 (rectangular generic pack) black (red sponge) 57.5g 165x170mm 0.208g/cm^2 Haifu Training Whale red sponge untuned red 68.93g 164x164mm 0.259g/cm^2 Tried it briefly two nights ago - got involved in games so I couldn't it a good looping wringing out. But it reminds me of nothing more than the Stiga Allround Classic - fairly slow, lots of pleasant vibration. Handle's a tad small (can fix that with grip tape) - this was at one time labeled as a "Junior" blade. The surface plies look like obeche to me. Build quality is EXCELLENT - just about Yinhe standard (though the face plies are not as smooth - I don't think you'd be able to sand obeche till it's smooth anyway, it's not that kind of wood). A LOT better than that Sanwei J7 blade I bought some time back, and better than the Red Monkey Butt pistol grip blade. Iskandar |

Sanwei M8 I don't know if I'm absorbing your buying habits by Internet osmosis – I have a couple of these on the way, too. The lighter one will go to my daughter for the next table tennis pennant season. Can you measure the height & width of the M8 head? |

I'll do it a little later, but it seems about "normal". I was thinking of putting used sheets on it at first and my old sheets (off my N11s) seemed to fit OK. I have a second one on order, I've asked for between 79 and 80 grams this time. Iskandar |
