Hi!

Someone told me about a guy that make great blades for a very low price (around 25€ + shipping). Now it's my time to share...
His name is Peter. His website is:
http://www.tt-piet.de/

He speaks English so you can contact him by mail ( p.freundlieb[at]freenet.de )
He only work with wood but has lots of veneers and good advices.
You can choose the size of the blade, of the handle, etc... It's handmade but the results are pretty amazing.
If you need help choosing your veneers, i'll be happy to help, contact me by PM.

Tell him that Betty gave you his mail and he will take great care of you...

I'm very happy with my 3 blades (i gave the others around me). i'll try to find the link where i put the photos of the blades i tested.

I also play a Blade from Peter for 1 year now an I´m very happy happy with it.

I explained Peter my kind of playing and he gave me great advice wich blade could be the best one and he was right. I´ve got a faster forehand side and a slow backhand for a great long pimple game.

My blade cost € 21,-- and that is unbeatable

What veneers did he use?

I have contacted Peter to see what his capabilities are on combination blades. I'm interested in getting a blade with as big a difference in speed as possible between the 2 sides. I'll report back what I learn.

mewmew - thanks for the heads up. And at this price, even I can afford to EJ a little again! ;)

If you have the german names, i'll understand them. ;)

For the backhand, you will need to choose between veneers: Anegre, Cherry tree, and Wenge (i forgot about nut tree because i hated it)
Anegre, is very slow and excellent for close to the table play. Most efficient when passive. (not great for aggressive players)
Cherry tree is for mixed play
wenge, is for aggressive players (very hard veneer)
and nut tree... that i dislike. I would advise it for short pimples players instead. Very nice to be aggressive with by for blocking, it wasn't so good)

It's very easy to do such a blade.

The most important is to choose the backhand... because it depends on our type of play and the feeling you're looking for. i like very hard blades and play ox. Wenge is great. But as i described above, it has a low angle and balls have a flat trajectory. Anegre is much slower but not appropriate for defense. It's best when used at the table. etc

The forehand veneer is less important. I tested Limba, Birch, Abachi ,Palisander, Wenge, and i could play with all easily.

Example of a good blade for a passive short blocker: Limba - Pearwood - Balsa 1,5 - Abachi 2,5 - Balsa 1 - Anegre

Hey mewmew - I currently play with a combination blade which is pretty thick balsa - it's a Reimpact Vari N3 - which has a soft feel that I like. I'm not keen on a hard blade at all.

When you talk about Anegre not being appropriate for defence, I assume you mean classical away from the table defence? I want to play a modern defence up at the table kind of game so would Anegre be suitable? I want this side as slow as possible. Also, I'm playing SP's on the forehand, again I like the current soft feel from my balsa set up - this has to be at least allround+ to be ideal.

Really interested in all this. I hope to hear back from Peter soon.

When i say anegre isn't good for defense, it's because the ball has a low angle so when far from the table the ball is often on our side of the net. But imo it's slower than cherry tree. For the price, you can test both...

For your forehand, Nut tree is great.
As you like soft feel, a core made of balsa would be better.

Nussbaum - Pear wood (or Limba) -balsa 1 (or 2 if you want the forehand to be faster) - Balsa 2 (or 3 if you want it to be faster) - balsa 1 - Anegre or Cherry tree

in your case i would try these two:
Nussbaum - Pear wood -balsa 1 - Balsa 2 - balsa 1 - Anegre (very slow)
Nussbaum - Limba -balsa 2 - Balsa 3 - balsa 1 - Cherry tree (still slow but faster than above)

Hi,

I ordered this blade to Piet two days a go.

Limba/Beech/Balsa 2/Abachi 2,5/Balsa 1/Wenge

I'm playing with 729FX 1mm on forehand and Pogo ox on backhand and I'm expecting a good blade for spin variation, block and hits with forehand. I asked a stiff blade, linear, very hard on BH and hard on FH, ALL+ on FH and DEF+ on BH.

I think you'll find your blade off-/all because i tried the same combination on backhand and found it fast. But it's a good thing because balls are very hard to play. Wenge is very hard, so you made the perfect choice!
On forehand i tried the combination limba/beech and didn't love it. But, it's personal.

He was good advice, and i think you'll love your blade but imo it will be a little faster as you expect. (but that can be a good thing because i tried slower blades and didn't love them at all).

disappointed I've had no response yet from Peter!

Mewmew - thanks for your advice. You seem very well versed in all things wood based! I will wait to see what response I get from Peter and then take up your suggestions with him.
