Post subject:  Nittaku Shake Defence?

I've been wanting to try this blade for a year now and I think it might be time to do so cause I feel I need a harder blade to get some more spin reversal. However, I can't really find any good reviews so I was wondering if anyone here that have tried it (MNNB?) could give me some opinions on how the blade performs when blocking at the table. How fast is it compared to other defensive blades? High or low throw? Etc...

Also, where is the best place to buy it? I can't seem to find almost any place that sells it.

I used it for about six months and thought it was the best blade for D.Tecs until the Tachi. The real expert with the Shake Defense is Pascal Troger. There's some vids of him in the video section.

I got mine from errateam.ch. Contra.de has it too.

Ok, how fast is it compared to other defensive blades? How is the FH? I'm quite sure that it will fit my BH but I'm not 100% sure about the FH.

Yes, ErraTeam seems to be the best place to buy it, reasonable price and not too far from me.

It's not a combination blade. I'd say about ALL on both sides. Pascal uses it in Bundesliga II matches with fast short pips on the forehand.

Yes, I have watched some of his matches and it seems fast enough, it's probably faster than my Stiga Tube Def and Donic Defplay anyway so it should be fine. Especially with a fast rubber like Calibra LT. I've understood this is quite a thin blade and that's perfect, I've always preferred thinner blades cause they give so much more feeling compared to thicker blades. Oh well, it seems that I just have to order one and find out by myself :)

I have used that blade for a month and actually still am holding on to one of the two I purchased. The blade has plenty of speed and good effects with LP. The only thing I didn't like was the blade face was TOO BIG and the handle was slightly longer than I would have liked. I shaved the blade and handle to match matsushita pro special size and it works very well. I haven't really used it much in the past couple of months due to major tournaments but plan to use it again. Attacking with it was a good speed and you can feel the ball nicely as the wood is not too soft and with medium hardness (imo). The weight, shaved down, is about 81 grams or so and is one of the best looking blades (defensive carbon) without all the fancy colored paints or designworks on it.

Stiga Tube is much much slower in comparison in my opinion.

One more question, how big is the blade? I've heard that it's big and some say it's ridiculously big. Is it possible to play with it without having to reduce the head size? :P How much bigger is it compared to other defensive blades like Defplay, Joo, Tube Def, Matsushita variants etc?

It's big. Blade face is 16.2 W x 16.75 L. Mine weights 85 grams.

Average pips-out rubber sheet width exactly matches the blade width and rubber lucks almost 1cm in height to cover blade completely.

Is the Nittaku seriously too big for a sheet of Grass dtecs - can you let me know on this plse MNNB as I'm almost at the point of ordering but won't if it's that big.

With glue sheet, it fits (barely). If you remove the glue sheet, it covers down to slightly above the handle (maybe around .25 centimeter).

Cheers for the advice. I may just stick with my current blade then. Lots to consider and try.

I'm going to buy either a NSD or a Tachi to go with my D.Tecs but can't really decide which one. What is the main differences in how they play with D.Tecs?
