Said I wouldn't go back but have been experimenting with Defplay again, now think it needs a shorter dwell rubber on f/h considering Bryce High speed surely no one has tried this?!!

They're only 28.99 at TopspinTT!.The soft short pips sounds like it could be an interesting ej experiment, something like Joola Tango Ultra or Raystorm. .mmm?

backhand using the right rubbers.

I did change defplay blades recently, I have 3. My oldest defplay is clearly different than the other 2(which were bought at the same time). The oldest one is slower and disruptive effect with pips is higher.
.

interesting find

From the first time I tried the defplay I liked it mostly because of the control. I noticed immediately disruptive effect with the defplay was less than with most other blades I have. But the results were there immediately( I won the national tournament) so I kept playing with the defplay. By now I have 5 defplay blades, 4 with more or less the same weight at around 78 gram and 1 that is extremely light at 73 gram. Still all blades play different, mostly the speed is different. Funny enough the first defplay I bought is still my favorite.
more info from elvis above

Japsican kindly sent me a defplay and i have noticed that the flared handle is a lot thicker than mine.
i take it that Donic have changed the handle style ?

External Review for Donic Defplay Classic Senso V3 on January 19, 2011
I just love this blade, it's the one that I always comes back to when I've tried other defensive blades. For pure chopping there are better blades but the Defplay brings so much more than just chopping ability. Probably one of the things I like most about it is the maneuverability when playing close to the table which most other defensive blades lack. It blocks and chop-blocks really well! The offense is also very good for a defensive blade, especially at the table and it's very easy to twiddle. It's very light but still with a very good balance.

I can only complain about one thing and that's the thin handle, but that can be fixed by adding some soft-grip or by changing the "grip-blocks". I've changed the grip-blocks to Persson Power AR blocks on one of my Defplays and that worked really well, that's actually the blade I'm playing with at the moment.

To sum it up I would call this blade the "allrounder" of defensive blades, it's simply nothing it can't do well!

@@@@@a review that mentions the thin handle

Can only comment that the Defplay I purchased about 5 months ago has quite a thick handle (FL). I don't have an older one to compare it to but I would be surprised if there were many complaints about it being too thin.

Oh..did you mean the Senso or Classic Senso? Mine's the Senso.

Peterpong, sounds like you've got Defplay classics from the weights, these are lighter due to balsa core. The review is of a senso v3 and is by ooak forum member Auzcar

I really wish Donic had come up with a different naming scheme. People confuse the Defplay Senso and Defplay Classic Senso all the time.

Does any one play with a cut down defplay senso as I like my blades to standard TSP balsa size so as to swap rubbers. If so how does it play.

Did try a cut down classic blade but too light and hollow feel.

i cut my defplay senso down as i found the f/h cumbersome to play due to the oversized head.f/h plays a lot better .i love the defplay for the backhand side though-chops and blocking with anti.i have also cut down 3 grubba pro blades.
the defplay is not the best blade for the f/h but if you are mainly a backhand player its difficult to beat.

Thanks Peter. Do you know what the cut down Deplay weighed approx.

I find a cut down TSP balsa 3.5 with Vega euro plenty fast enough and the slow blade allows for more spin and pace variation.
