curiosity gets to the cat...

browsing the Butterfly E-shop (japanese) i found these blades.

they have the usual spelling of defence, not defense as per butterfly. whats intriguing though, is that the defence X looks like it uses willow wood for its outer plies but different wood for the inner plies, which is fairly uncommon today. (matsushita pro special had this composition, but i think all matsushita models are now discontinued by butterfly)

ill try to upload some pictures...

unusual to see a willow blade so thin(5.2) i think the core may be some other wood to stabalize the blade.i took the thickness of my def alpha down to something similar to this and the flex became too much :'(

neither are willow...

i believe the defence pro to be exactly the same as a matsushita pro...same head size and shape and looks to be the same top ply

whoa, do you have one?

as for the willow, i just assumed that the defence X had a willow outer ply because of the willow woods trademark silverish-gray smooth grained look...

im still gonna get a defence II though.

have a buddy whos got one and he still uses his mat pro...he says when it finally breaks (its on its last leg) the new butterfly one is exactly the same, except slightly less classy looking...

better act fast on that defence II...its discontinued.....

if i were you id stick to the custom frying pan, its unique, its a conversation piece, people are always slightly jealous because they believe that you have a secret weapon that they cannot purchase...

and its a reflection of you, almost an extension of your hand, train with a custom blade and you will always have an advantage when facing someone, even if its mental, they think "oh no....i wonder how his blade is going to play)....you think chens weixing blade isnt custom?

then why has he had the same one for 15 years.....

like a jedi building his own lightsaber, its your own...

ps....do u have any pictures of it?

Has anyone tried the Defence x? I saw it here http://www.gotabletennis.com/Butterfly_ ... /36274.htm and was wondering how it plays, or or anything about it. Couldn't find reviews.

Have you played with it (defence X)? Never played with willow that I know of, wondering how it does. Is it good for blocking/chopping (slow)? How is the throw? Is it good for a fast looping rubber on FH? Maybe it is too new and not allot of people have tried yet. I'm hoping someone has that can give some info on it. Thanks...
